I looked for a thread like this last night and today and couldn't find it. Now I see it's been active almost from the time the shootings took place.

My emotions are running so high about this, I'm ?????.

So if his actions prior to this event were ignored, we have to ask ourselves why. Did they think he was simply trying to dodge deployment? Who ever made that decision dotted lines to the events of yesterday-they are not responsible for his actions and decisions, but if he telegraphed his instability the way it is being reported, then there is a lesson to be learned in terms of who goes and who stays maybe??

People are making excuses for this behavior now - I'm about to burst. There is no excuse for what this criminal sicko has done.

Every person who serves in the Armed services KNOWS they will/could face deployment at any time. If they claim not to know, they are liars.

This guy was a USER and he is now a KILLER. He is a COWARD and who knows what else. IMO he is Godless. There is no way he has PTSD as he has never been in combat or anywhere near it before yesterday.

This guy is the worst representation of a human being. I hate him and his stupid ideologies.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO ALL THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE OUR COUNTRY WITH HONOR AND DEVOTION.
STAY STRONG AND KNOW YOU'RE APPRECIATED.

FORT HOOD (November 6, 2009)--A day of mourning was declared Friday at Fort Hood after an officer fired on soldiers in a deployment-processing area, killing 13 people and wounding 30 others.

Flags fly at half-staff throughout Central Texas and around the world in honor of the dead and injured.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates declared a moment of silence for U.S. military forces worldwide as a show of respect for the Fort Hood victims at 1:34 p.m. Friday, exactly 24 hours after the shooting.

All U.S. forces worldwide are being asked to participate in the show of respect and Fort Hood is asking Central Texans to join the observance.

President Barack Obama Friday ordered U.S. flags lowered to half-staff through Nov. 11, which is Veteran’s Day.

OT: Where did O'Bama get his press sec? I swear that guy just said, "Um" about 3 times in every sentence during that whole press conference. WTH??

I have seen every press conference and most every interview that the Col. at FH has done since yesterday. I have seen 3 different contradictions with my own eyes. Why don't they get their info consistent before they do these interviews?

1) Shooter was killed; no he was not.
2) Shooter was to go to Iraq; he was going to A'stan.
3) LE officer killed; no she is alive.

Not being hypercritical, just not sure what to repeat because it gets changed at every interview.

Also, the shooter could very well be paralyzed by severe spinal cord from GSW but may also be "paralyzed" in order to not fight the ventilator. We use the term "paralyzed" sometimes when we chemically induce a coma using sedation and paralytic medications. Does not mean the person could not move if the medications were stopped. Just FYI. That comment may be misleading.

OMG

8 people shot in Orlando office building, now. WTH is wrong with people????????

I asked Tricia and if the info on the moment of silence could be put as a banner on the forums....I am sure others did as well.

I feel so sad.

I also feel sad, tears are streaming down my face for the first time since this happened yesterday afternoon. I'm crying for all those injured and dead, all of them, the shooter included. I'm also crying for all the hatred I'm hearing.

Lest anyone think I'm an idiot, a bleeding heart, or worse, let me say my son is deploying to Iraq next month and I feel sorry for each and every human being who loses their life over there, be they our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, or citizens of Iraq. The only thing I HATE is senseless torture, death and dying in every way, shape, and form.

My opinion only

Think about how the actions of one man will setback or impact negatively relations with all Muslims in the United States of America.

What an idiot.

The shooter? Last I heard - he's not dead.
Bleeding heart? Save it for those who deserve it.

It's time to take a stand against wrongdoing in our country.

He couldn't have had PTSD as regards being in a combat situation in Iraq or Afghanistan but he surely did most likely CAUSE IT for some his fellow soldiers in TEXAS!!!! :furious:
How ironic for this "good American" ; this DOCTOR, who received his education at the American taxpayer's / the Army's expense. He has made his whole life a shameless LIE.
I surely hope nothing is covered up in this investigation; let the truth be known, wherever it leads.

If the FBI had wind of this guy posting on the internet, why the H*** didn't they pursue it?

I hate to say this, and maybe someone has already--I haven't read every post--I know it sounds terrible but I wish the woman who shot the shooter would have administered the "coup de grace". This guy ripped off the army to get an education and a salary--now he's going to cost more bucks to keep alive (and guess who pays for that?). He's a waste of space....oh well.

bolded by me.

No kidding. I still believe that most of the Muslims in the U.S. are here for a reason--they don't believe in the bad things that the radicals in their religion are doing and want to enjoy the freedoms allowed in this country. JMO

"He was mortified by the idea of having to deploy,” Hasan's cousin Nader Hasan told The New York Times. “He had people telling him on a daily basis the horrors they saw over there.”

You know what...my son has been deployed three different times...a year at each stretch....he left behind a wife and 2 children each time....AND HE WAS MORTIFIED OF DEPLOYING & leaving them behind to survive at the very least a year without him with the possiblity of forever without him!

So.....BOO FRIGGIN HOO Mr. (you don't deserve your rank of Major) Hasan & your family! Tell it to a family that hasn't had a soldier delploy!

TRAITOR = One who betrays another's trust or is false to an obligation or duty

It is so difficult for our Soldiers to keep their morale up while in a war zone let alone have to worry about some nutjob blowing them away while they are outprocessing. I don't even know how to process the fact that this nutjob is a Psychiatrist. Our poor Soldiers.

HIS ACTIONS ARE THE WORST OF THE WORST.

All this crying AFTER he received his education through the Military System. He should have been locked up at his first expression of resisting deployment - what a freud!

Why didn't he take his butt over to Iran as a civilian - what a ??????! (fill in the blank).
