Does anyone on Webseluths live at Megan's apartments? Can you tell us if Megan's apartment complex has security cameras?

This is the Lake Hubbard Parkway near the place where Megan's body was found in the lake.

Did they have this “learn how not to be a victim” seminar by a police officer scheduled before Megan was found dead?

Megan’s apartment was in a gated community. Residents have attached garages.

Strange Man Spotted Following Women In Plano Park. [NBC5i.com] Plano police have issued a warning to women who use the city's parks. Police said they received several reports of a strange man following women in the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. Investigators said the man wears black clothes and shoes and drives an older-model black Ford Escort. Authorities in Plano are encouraging women not to exercise in the parks alone. Police also said women should carry a whistle to attract attention should they run into a problem.

Avoid being a victim. Buy a 9 mm small pistol and hollow point bullets. (Don’t buy a tiny 38 Special. Shooting someone with a tiny 38 caliber bullet will only make him very angry as it takes MANY tiny 38 caliber bullets to stop an attacker.) Go to a shooting range and practice, practice, practice. Wear your pistol! Having a pistol in your purse won’t help you if someone quickly grabs you. Buy several types of concealed weapon holsters. You'll need different types for different situations and clothing outfits.

So one on end pointed this out on Reddit. The area she was at would just as easily be a good spot to leave her body where it wouldn't be found so why was it taken there. I also wonder could it be a neighbor she had an issue with? Somehow I'm thinking creepy neighbor stalker.

They also pointed out most people being armed and knowing how to use it so it's more rare something like this happens. But that shows why dark and odd the beaten trail in a park is best.

They also pointed out it being somewhat like Delphi as far as out in nature in a park in a high risk target and high risk area that was pulled off so far but I wondering could they be the same person? I doubt it but you never know

Until the autopsy results are released I don't think there is a lot to report . PPD requested anyone in the park that day to come forward .

IF the person lived In one of the nearby apartments why go to RH and all those toll booths ? Then have to return home ? Perhaps they were from Dallas , rock wall ect and RH was on the way home . ? Sounds more plausible unless it's all meant to throw the investigation off.

I'm surprised we haven't heard of autopsy results yet.

But yeah you raise some good points and I think you might be on to something. At this point, I am presuming she was attacked before she got back to her apartment. The perp had to be familiar with that area. And taking her to Lake Ray Hubbard - the perp had to be really familiar and comfortable with that area. So could be the perp is from Rockwall or Lake Ray Hubbard area and happened to be working in Plano, nabbed her at the park, drove to LRH probably avoiding the toll roads altogether.

All just IMO of course.

Or he lives super close to her and stalked her that way and thought taking her out there would maybe make it seem like suicide and that leaving her body at the park meant cops searching the area more and wanting as little cops near as possible

Link isn't working or I mean it isn't going to the article but is this a new story? Like in the last week and could be the same creepy dude? I agree they need to not make themselves a victim and need to carry mace etc

I haven't heard of this news alert, and the link doesn't work. Is this a recent alert?

I completely disagree that most people in Arbor Hills are armed. I would say most are not.

there have been so many park and trail rapes robberies in Dallas I would never go it alone , it literally seems you have to catch it on the news and pay attention but it seems its about once a month you hear of a really bad one.

The only thing I could find about this was on a blog from September 2006 so I'm sure it's a very outdated article and that's why it won't pull up

Reddit is how I heard about the case. True crime discussion and I think unsolved mysteries both have threads for it. I am very curious do any locals know how easy it would be to see in windows if the apartments from the park or anywhere close? I feel she was watched from somewhere

I used to live in the apartments near where she lived. Given the foliage around that area, you'd have to be in the apartment complexes to see into those buildings, even with the windows open. I lived facing the preserve AND a wooded area in the complex and I could not see into the preserve deep enough to see the trails and vice-versa.

I'm following this case on here because my husband worked with her (on the same software engineering team). She was let go from their company (Masergy) earlier this year so I know she wasn't working there within the last couple months. It's really struck a chord with me because I lived near there. I knew her, went to happy hour with her, and I've walked those same trails, often. Even near dusk and once at night. I wasn't alone but still, I never felt unsafe there. People bring their kids and families there.

The more I read this thread, the more frustrated that I get that no more information has been released. The people that live around there (like me) aren't going to rest easy until we know more!

Since one of the few things LE did release was that she was on the phone but her phone died, it makes me think she must have said to the person she was talking/texting to "I have low battery, my phone may die." That could also explain why the person she was speaking to didn't find it suspicious or call right back.

I don't like to read too much into when LE releases information since every department is difference, but if they haven't released an autopsy or cause of death yet they may be waiting for tissue testing or toxicology? If it was something obvious (like a gunshot) they may feel comfortable releasing it sooner. Then again, they may just not want to release it for tactical reasons in catching who did this.

Two scenarios popped into my head: her phone died while she was walking the trails, so she walked quickly back to her apartment (not paying attention) and was abducted by a stranger. Second, maybe she had a date set for that night and on her way back to her apartment saw the person and went with them for some reason- i.e. date saying "let's just grab coffee now, you don't need to get your stuff."

The second scenario reminds me of Jacqueline Vandagriff. They caught her murderer really quickly- hopefully that becomes more of the norm.

One thing that keeps bugging me: No description of pants, shorts, etc. Megan might have been wearing. We know what kind of top and shoes she was found in, but no pants/shorts ... :(.

Question for fellow locals...are you hearing anything? I'm not hearing a peep on the news or even people that live here! No one is talking about this. So many people don't even know about it. It's really strange. I hope the quiet means LE have something they are moving on.

Thank you for the info. Masergy was acquired late last year by Berkshire Partners. What does your husband say the environment is like there after the acquisition? That can bring a lot of upheaval to a workplace - layoffs, reorgs, etc. Do you know if she got laid off or replaced because of the takeover?

Another poster said she recently had started a new job. That roller coaster is no fun. But I still don't think that had anything to do with her death.
