Where does Ft Hood trash go? Where's the closest landfill?

Vanessa was looking forward to buying a "new" car, from a car dealer. Dealers are offering great deals with zero interest rate. Paraphrasing her sister MG's comments.

Yes to poisonous snakes and coyotes. The coyotes typically aren’t interested in people though. The snakes on the other hand... I was chased by a rattlesnake on a walking trail several years ago. Pretty scary!

Same here re: experiences with coyotes, I've been near them in the High Desert before, during Summer. They like trash/refuse, stuff like that generally. Easy pickins type stuff. I'd hear them howling at night, sounded like an eerie crying.

I feel sorry for your hair. ;)

Stay outside the brackets.

Thank you. I guess I should have reviewed the 'new person' info before I posted anything, or looked online, but something caught my eye, and I joined to see what was going on.

I’ve also been wondering about public WiFi on base? Do they have it at certain locations and areas

If so that may be able to help provide some useful information

Of course I realize that CID likely already has any info gleaned from there

I wonder how far they will get with a PI since it's on a military bases. There's only so much and so far they can go with that.

Mayra Guillen, Vanessa's sister, started a ******** page and asks for donations to hire a private investigator. She said she won't stop looking for her sister until she is home safe.

Yah I think they would be limited to investigating VG recent interactions etc and interviewing those that are willing to talk to him/her. As far as information sharing, yah that ain’t happening

But I can understand the helpless feeling that they have. The Army likely isn’t telling them anything and I’m sure it’s difficult for them to not know what’s going on. It would be extremely difficult to completely be in the dark when your loved one is missing.

I do believe that the military is taking this case seriously and are actively trying to solve it. But I can certainly understand why someone in their position would question it

I'm not sure how that will work out. You can't just swan onto an active military base and start quizzing people. If you don't have a DOD issued ID or are not accompanied by someone with one, you can't get past the gate. You have to go to the office and get a pass, I'm trying to imagine how that conversation would go. Moo

I was taking about calling people that the family knew she was affiliated with not actually going door to door....Like I said I doubt they would be allowed to actually investigate on base. I guess I should have made that more clear

I saw that. I actually gave a small donation. I can't even imagine having to deal with raising funds to help get some sort of answer.
To my knowledge, most PI's have military connections and/or background. I honestly feel like it would give SOME kind of peace knowing that someone is out trying to get answers. Even if they don't have an ID, they can always get someone to sponsor them on base. With things opening up, it may be easy to get on base again.

I've heard of several cases now, mostly in California, where coyotes have gone after small children, starting back in the 80s. One child was 18 months old, one was actually grabbed and then dropped when someone gave chase. One case recently was a youtube video I refused to watch as the coyote was sneaking up behind an elderly woman in her yard. Even though they said the coyote didn't actually get her, I didn't want to watch it anyway.
They seem to be in most of the country by now, and that scares me. We have them here.

I believe it is best to allow CID to take care of business and leave the PIs out of this for now. I understand Mayra's desire for answers, but right now, CID and the FBI doesn't need to be tripping over every person out there with a Sherlock Holmes complex. Give CID some credit, please, they aren't novices and they have more resources at hand than you might believe. Then again, the CID people I knew are probably all retired. Still, you don't just join and 'get into CID'. It takes qualifications. CID used to be army personnel, are they still? (I know NCIS is civilians).

I was beginning to wonder how I always managed to by-pass those office visits and passes until I realized my car still had a decal on it from Ft. Ord. So, some people can get on there more easily than you think. I had that car for about 6 years. I think the sticker might have still been on it when I sold it.

Does anyone want to hazard a guess? Do they still use decals on the vehicles and how easy do you think someone could steal/buy/get their hands on whatever is needed to get on post?

I’m a bit surprised they even released that statement last night, although I’m glad they did.

They aren’t messing around here, and there are multiple agencies involved, to include the FBI.

I don’t think we’ll hear much until there is a major development (arrest, body), but I do think that will happen relatively soon. This doesn’t have the elements of becoming an enduring mystery.
I haven't been able to locate the 'statement' that was released the night prior to this post. Maybe I can't see for looking.

This is it:

The Army Criminal Investigation Command confirmed Friday authorities have, "conducted dozens of interviews, followed up on all credible investigative leads and assisted with extensive searches by air and ground of Fort Hood."

Officials say the FBI, Belton Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety are assisting.

"They are committed to finding Pfc. Guillen and will not stop until they do," Chris Grey, Chief of Public Affairs, said in a statement.

Family, friends search area for missing Fort Hood soldier

I do believe they need credit. However, my sister is also AD military, and her close friend is CID there at Ft Hood. He’s under 22. I’m not doubting him, but it’s not all “senior” members. I’m just speaking with my opinion. I know everyone has their way of finding answers. I just know if I were in that horrible situation, I would do anything and everything in my power to help give just one more clue that could give us one more step to finding her.

No, they don’t use decals. It’s ID check. Every base is different, but 4/5 times, they check only the driver.

Someone that wants to hire additional help may change their minds if that 'additional help' screws up.
