As a graduate of UNT and someone very familiar with that area, I can echo what a few other locals have already stated here. The streets being mentioned as where the search is occurring are literally the boundaries of the campus. Without knowing the family’s address, it sounds like they must either live adjacent to campus or not more than a block or two away.

The UNT campus itself is located at the intersection of Interstate 35 East and Interstate 35 West (I-35 splits into two separate highways down in Waco and then converges again in Denton). So to the southeast and west of the campus, you have nothing but interstate highway and businesses. North and northeast of the campus is a mixture of older businesses, old apartments, and some houses that maybe aren’t the newest or nicest. The campus itself and immediate surrounding streets is for the most part safe, outside of a few muggings and the occasional vehicle break-in. However, the city of Denton itself is VERY diverse, and that includes income, crimes, and neighborhoods. You can go from one block/one area which is a bit run-down and sketchy-seeming to another block that is trendier/renovated in like 2 minutes. It really is a complete mix of old/new, wealthy/poor, commercial/artsy and changes rapidly as you drive through it.

But the main point of all of this is that there isn’t any water or that many parks or nature areas close by where the boy could potentially be hiding (or worse). Even during the summer months, that area of Denton... especially the radius a 2 yr old could access by foot... is very busy with foot traffic of kids going to summer school or people in general visiting the local businesses. It would be VERY hard for a 2 yr old to wander around by himself for more than a minute or two without being noticed by someone (I would even say impossible).

It was pretty hot today in the DFW area, so that has to be the biggest concern at this point. If the child did in fact wander off from the home and is either hiding or lost and somehow unnoticed, the heat plays more and more of a factor by the minute.

I sure hope the little guy is just hiding in some trees or bushes nearby and is afraid to come out.

Dixon said the boy's mother told police she turned around for a matter of minutes, and when she looked again, Sarbresh was gone.

In this first article posted, mother turned around for a matter of minutes and he was gone, now reports are that she put him down for a nap and when she checked on him, he was gone.
Just wanted to point this out. May mean absolutely nothing, but who knows at this point.
Changing stories and multiple photos of the child with a completely blank expression on his face are worrisome.

Thought I was seeing things. Wonder why they would take a picture of him in doctors office/hospital?

I don't think that's weird, I took a picture of my daughter when she had surgery cause I thought she looked so cute in her little gown, I didn't do anything with it except text it to my Mom. I see lots of Mom's post pictures of their kids at the Dr. office/hospital for attention so everyone will ask what's wrong on social media.

I’m having a hard time (like others) with the fact no one saw him (that we know of) walking around. This isn’t like a rural part of town. Surely someone noticed a 2 year old wandering alone.

How many other children are at home and how long had the family lived there?

[MISSING CHILD]: Here’s the flyer that police are handing out. Notice how @DENTONPD is spelling boy’s last name. However, I acknowledge that a more common spelling of that last name is “Gurung.” Working to get more details. In the meantime, keep your eyes out for Sarbesh! @wfaa

It's Gurung with an N. That's how the parents spell it.
I guess they wanted to get the poster out asap and forgot to double-check the spelling.

I hope he's found soon. It does sound very odd if he was gone in less than three minutes, from an apartment building, with stairs, in a populated area with no woods or ponds nearby. You'd think she would have caught up with him.
Unless he was victim of a crime I think he's still in the building.

I just saw this on local news here in Houston. Poor baby, 16 hours is a long time for him to be missing.
The report I saw, said mom put him down for nap and went to check in him at 2pm but he was gone. Wonder what time she put him down for his nap? Hoping for the best but it doesn’t sound good, IMO. After following so many cases, I admit, I’m jaded. Hope he’s found safe...and soon!

How is it unclear at this point (a day later almost) whether or not this child speaks or understands English? I would think this information would be vital, along with knowing for instance, if his family called him Sarbesh or if there was a nickname the family more commonly used, etc. since searchers would likely be calling out for him.

The "child might not know english" thing came from a family friend. That didn't come from LE.
