So months ago, he tells the co-worker he wants to push his wife down the stairs. And then a few days before he kills them he says this....?! Ugh.

From an earlier link

A few days before Shanna Vandewege and their infant son, Diederik, were found dead in the family’s north Fort Worth home, he also recounted a dream in which he “sliced the heads of his wife and father like bologna,” the co-worker told police.

I hope he has a good time in jail. I don't believe he is insane - He is just an evil monster.

If this was in the original version of the article, I missed it:

One of Vandewege’s attorneys, Steve Gordon, has traveled to Colorado to meet with him, according to a statement emailed from attorney Leslie Barrows. Vandewege has waived extradition and will be brought back to Texas by law enforcement officials, his attorneys said.

“Meanwhile, we have begun our own independent investigation into the deaths of Shanna and Diederik,” the statement said. “Their funerals will take place this coming Tuesday. Now, we respectfully request that everyone interested in this matter, please allow the families time and space to privately grieve during this especially difficult time for these families also observing Christmas and Hanukkah.”

Idk, if he wanted to kill his wife and baby and make it look like an intruder did it, telling your co-worker beforehand that you are fantasising about killing your wife is an incredibly stupid thing to do! So now I'm thinking this was not completely cold-blooded after all...

I don't think he has much chance of an insanity defence now since he apparently admitted premeditation to the co-worker, and he staged the crime scene afterwards to make it look like an intruder did it. He may actually have a mental illness or a drug habit that was making him have thoughts of violence, he may even have been hearing voices, but it sounds like he still knew what he was doing was wrong and he could have sought help rather than butchering his family.

Wonder if he likes to beat up elderly women, too? Killing a baby is easily compared to attacking a toddler, or an 85 year old in a wheelchair.

Can't link for some reason, but the story on Yahoo News states he had in his pocket upon arrest a wedding ring and condoms and told officers he was headed to Las Vegas.

*Vomits a little in her mouth

Looks like the husband was a loner which makes me believe he is a video gamer that got caught up in a fantasy thrill kill. Jmo, he probably has a hard time socializing with women and is addicted to *advertiser censored*. I said in the beginning of this thread that the condoms in the pocket were for show because he's socially awkward. Mental health issues for sure

Must have been having mental problems and dr prescribed some medicine that did not help. I think he needed something a lot strong than anti anxiety medication! He needed some anti- psychotic meds!! He is obviously delusional and psychotic. Maybe he was mis-diagnosed.....I hope this all comes out, because I think he has some very serious mental issues that were not being treated.

I know someone that was taking meds for pychosis and they would cut themselves and also told me she saw cartoons in front of her eyes. So weird. Meds did not help her with this. She eventually had to be committed for about 6 months.

I also think Shanna took on the responsible role in the household, meaning she provided more in the marriage. It can be hard dealing with a family member that is suffering mental health issues.

It's interesting how we can see things so differently.

Looking at all the details released thus far, I don't see this as a video-game inspired thrill kill by a 35-year-old loner husband and father at all.

Looks more to me like CV wanted to erase his wife and son from his life so he would have more money to do as he pleased, and possibly to play with women who he found more palatable than his wife.

It appears that CV liked to talk to people, though he clearly put some people off. His brother calls it "socially awkward", sounds more like "total ahole" to me (but I'm not family, of course).

Plus, CV chose to work in a retail and customer service environment, there are photos of him with friends and family on FB, Shanna's dad seemed to have been taken in by him, etc.

From the just-released capital murder warrant, we now have some confirmation that CV complained a lot about his wife's looks, her attire, how she organized the house, how he wanted to kill her -- indicative of a controlling and possibly abusive man who resented his wife, as many of us suspected.

And while we now know that CV had been thinking about killing his wife for months, he chose to do so after his wife decided not to go back to work and after selling their CO home ($$$). He attempted to clean up evidence of his horrific crimes, staged a crime scene, and lied to police.

I don't have an opinion about whether CV might have some mental illness at this point. But, I do believe he was probably seriously into drugs, along with alcohol, and he knew exactly what he was doing.

I agree completely. I've dug deep on FB and have found additional unsavory details about him. Poor Shanna and baby D.
