A 13-year-old neighbor has been arrested in connection with the fatal beating of a 5-year-old boy whose body was found Wednesday afternoon behind a vacant house in southeast Fort Worth, not far from where he had last been seen riding his bicycle.
The teen, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, is accused of hitting Sida Osman repeatedly in the head with an undisclosed object.

I'm sorry but I don't consider the perps family victims. I have a 10 yr old and I can't imagine him having the capacity to beat a 5yr old to death with a weapon. I'd bet this kid was trouble and has been trouble for some time. Unless it is a crime of passion (intimate relationship type) I do not believe people just wake up one day with the capacity to murder.
Unfortunately, this is not always true. I have seen it myself.
Until family dynamics are known no one should assume anything. Not always is it black and white

Check out the star-telegram link MsFacetious posted. The family dynamics are in that article. This teen was a danger loooong before he and Sida crossed paths.
But it also indicates his mother had tried everything in her power to deal with the situation. It also claims she herself was being abused by her own son.
The local social worker/person who runs the boys home somewhat contradicts this. He mentioned the 13 yr old not wearing a bracelet and the mothers behavior. My guess, if the info about the panhandling is true, she's not mentally healthy and instead of seeking help for herself, she is bashing the kid and blaming him......
You know, this reeks of another kid killing him.
ETA Well, given the post above me, I guess it smelled right.
respectfully snipped
Although Sida's parents are Somali refugees, the boy was born in the United States.
Sida's mother, Dahabo Abdi, told Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT that she did not know the suspect.
Agreed. I just checked as well and there was no new coverage (my time)ETA One day after an arrest and two days after his MURDER , little Sida is no longer important enough to be mentioned in the top TWELVE items of news for the day and 3 of those items are SPORTS and 3 of those items are POLITICS. Sickening !

Oops wrong case about the panhandling. Sorry!
Here is what the local youth home founder had to say about the 13 yr old being arrested for Sida's murder:
News of the 13-year-olds arrest was not surprising to Rick Stokes, founder of the Stokes Christian Boys Home in east Fort Worth, in which the teen had been involved for several years.
This had been building up for years and years, Stokes said.
Stokes said the suspects life has not been an easy one. While a baby, the boys father was sentenced to prison for several years. Upon his release, the father reunited with the family but later left the boys mother for another woman, leaving the boy feeling abandoned, Stokes said.
Hes got a lot of rage and anger in him, Stokes said. Being a little kid, he didnt know how to handle it.
Stokes said the teen began acting out running away, getting into fights, stealing items like bicycles, and, on occasion, threatening to kill others.Hed been in and out of juvenile detention and was currently on probation, Stokes said.

Stokes said the mother tried to help her son, even getting him placed on medication in attempt to control his anger but it didnt seem to help.
She was doing all she could. He had actually gotten to the point where he was physically abusing her, Stokes said.
