EXCLUSIVE: Mother says boyfriend wanted to flee to Mexico after hiding girl's body in closet
[...]

Three weeks ago, Torres and Patino moved in with her boyfriend, Santiago Esparza, she said.

She said they had been together for about a month.

[...]

When Torres was about to get Patino ready for bed Friday night, Aug. 23, she said Esparza insisted on bathing the little girl.

“If we’re going to live together, you need to let me do this,” Torres said Esparza told her. “You need to trust me.”

Torres said she agreed as long as Esparza would leave the door open. But moments later, Torres said she heard her daughter scream from the shower and the door was locked.

[...]

Torres said her daughter hardly ate and hardly spoke a word for the next three days and vomited occasionally.

[...]

That night, Torrest said her daughter threw up many times. The next morning, she said Patino struggled to breathe.

“She’s asthmatic,” Torres said from jail. “I gave her my inhaler, but it didn’t help.”

Esparza gave Patino CPR, Torres said, but Patino struggled for breath until she stopped breathing.

[...]

Torres claimed Esparza told her to dress Patino’s body, then he hid it in his closet on top of a pile of clothes and under a blanket.

Then, "He said we should go for a drive,” she added.

Esparza refused to let Torres call the police over the next several days and told her they should run away to Mexico, she said.

[...]

Torres said the truth is that Esparza bathed Patino and probably hurt her, that he hid the body and tried to cover it up and suggested they flee the country.

SMH
GRRRRRRRR
SO HER daughter paid the ultimate horror price for her mother's stupid choices.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! NO EXCUSE!!! NO EXCUSE!!!
who would allow a creep your dating 2 months to bathe your 5 year old daughter. Or ever for that matter.
He locked the door.
Mother did not race her to ER.
Gave her if I am reading that correctly her the mother's inhaler. (SMH)
Sexual assault with making her drink something to silence her. Causing her death. He killed Sierra this precious little girl. JMO
I want him to get max
And she ( mother) to never forget that she was to protect her child above all, at all times. With pentality neglect added on charges. In her death. My goodness maybe she could of saved her if emergency medical attention was provided by hospital.
I smell drugs in this case
All MOO
JUSTICE FOR Sierra

so he basically told her, if you want me to live with you, you have to let me touch your naked daughter. And she agreed to it.:eek::(

Seriously a pink casket can't be beautiful....pink is the worst color ever for a casket.
It's a funny and happy color, and death doesn't seem to be funny or happy.

My uncle was a razorback fan so his kids got him a razorback casket that said woo pig sooie ! the Arkansas Razorback chant , Ive seen all kinds .

I don't know. I went to a beautiful service for a 6 yr old that died in a horrible auto accident. They had a pink casket for her because she loved pink. They did it to honour her. She would have chosen that for herself. :(

I don't think I am going too far out on a limb to suggest my theory is that this child was force-fed a cleaning solution as some sort of punishment, probably by the BF or by the mother in order to please BF.

poor little Sierra. Such a cute little doll and to die such a painful and prolonged death. Shame on these people. How on earth to you witness such suffering without acting? Let alone cause it?
Now that the mother has made a further statement, I wonder if the bf thought that toilet bowl cleaner containing bleach destroys evidence of DNA and he did not consider it would kill her?

Police: 5-Year-Old Texas Girl Found in Closet Had Been Dead for Several Days
[...]

“He wouldn’t open it,” Torres said. “I knocked three different times.”

After several minutes, she alleged, he opened the door, and she saw Sierra with red, peeling skin on her child and a bruise on her forehead. Over the next three days, she didn’t eat, barely spoke, and vomited.

But according to KHOU, Torres has given contradictory statements to police about what had happened. She initially said she gave her daughter a bath and said a bottle of toilet cleaner somehow ended up in the tub with her, which caused chemical burns.

[...]

“Why would I give that girl a bath?” Esparza told KHOU. “I didn’t give that girl a bath. Would you let me give your daughter a bath? No, right? Then why would I give her daughter a bath?”

He then described Torres as “a … liar.”

After he was asked about why his girlfriend would make such a claim, he responded with: “I don’t know. She’s obsessed with me.”

[...]

Torres also told Click2Houston that Sierra had told her that she saw a vision of her dead uncle Jesse. “I’m done,” Torres claimed her daughter told her. “I don’t feel very good.”

That was the last time Sierra spoke, her mother claimed.

[...]

KHOU noted that Esparza is a known gang member with a history of criminal activity, including a conviction for injuring his son. However, he said he didn’t harm the girl.

Ok, well, that doesn't clear anything up. :(:mad:

It is weird, because when I first read her version of the 'closet burial' ---it sounded so odd to me, that her boyfriend would tell her to 'hide ' the body in the closet. And leave her there....

That^^^ didn't sound like the way males deal with dead children at all. Maybe he is right and she is a big fat liar?

If this had actually happened, why would she not take the child to a hospital? But she didn't.

“She’s asthmatic,” Torres said from jail. “I gave her my inhaler, but it didn’t help.”

If Sierra was asthmatic, why didn't she have her own inhaler?

BBM

Because she's a worthless human being who chose to protect herself and/or a demented monster instead of her innocent child. May they both rot in h*ll. MOO

Patricia Patino, Sierra's grandmother, said she is honoring her granddaughter's memory through a candlelight vigil and a balloon release.

“She was a beautiful happy baby, loved singing and loved dancing,” Patino said.

But she isn't forgetting about seeking the justice she said her granddaughter deserves.

[...]

Patino said she doesn't believe her daughter is the killer.

“I'm going to stick by her even though she is in the wrong for not being the mother she was supposed to be at the point because other than that she was a great mother, but she didn’t take care of her daughter so I blame her for that, but the murderer is him and I want him to pay for what he did,” Patino said.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner proclaimed Sept. 9 Sierra Mikayla Patino day.

Other than the fact that Sierra ended up dead, in a closet, and her mom did NOTHING to help her, she was a great mom???
Other than the fact “mom” moved in with a known gang member that she was dating a few months, and exposed her beautiful child to that???
Other than the fact “ mom” allowed him to give her child a bath???
What. The. Actual....
