IMO LE knows who orchestrated this hit but does not have evidence. They are patiently waiting for a slip up - they probably have listening and tracking devices planted in multiple locations.

An orchestrated hit? It could have been a paid hit. Some folks rebuttal to that theory is why not shoot Missy when she was getting out of her truck. Well, that'd be an obvious assassination. At least with the killing taking place inside the building, some people think it was a burglary gone wrong and it may have been one.

How does one go about locating a trusted contract killer? It can't be as simple as an online search for ads. Many times when someone is approached for a contract killing, they'll wear a wire for the police or they're an undercover cop. Recently, a lady woman in FL was caught using her PPP loan to hire her new boyfriend to kill for her.

I agree with you Detective Willie. (About the orchestrated hit/murder. I am unsure that they have listening devices planted, however.

I apologize in advance for not citing parts of this theory that were suggested here earlier by others, but I keep going back to the nonchalant and cartoon-ish behavior of SP as they wander through the church.

What if their purpose was just to create the appearance of a burglary and their real intent was to disrupt the class? "I'm sorry Ms. Bevers, but you'll have to cancel your class this morning while we investigate this". Maybe they were attempting to prevent someone from participating in the class for unknown reasons. Then, for whatever reason, things with Missy quickly went sideways.

This is may have been posted before. "The Murder Squad" had half an episode covering Missy's case. Paul Holes discusses the case and while I don't know what I think about his viewpoints on the case, they are interesting and probably worth considering.
Some of the points and this isn't all inclusive:
- Paul Holes outlines why he believes this was a targeted killing and not a case of Missy being in the wrong place at the wrong time. (Personally, I'm not onboard with this scenario, BUT I haven't ruled it out either.)
- They don't mention a murder weapon, be it a gun or a tool the killer was seen carrying.
- They discuss the height and possible size of the killer and whether they believe it is a male or female. Interesting in that the two do not agree on this aspect.
- They discuss the car at the gun store and Paul Holes has an interesting take on the purpose of that event.
- Paul Holes co-host, Billy Jenson, states that he has spoken to some close to the case and they have a suspicion about the possible killer. LE just can't get enough evidence. (I don't know what to believe about this. Obviously, the person doesn't want to come on so I can't put a lot of weight on it. But Paul Holes has been consulting on other cases before and appears to have well thought out reasoning. He was on the HLN 5 year special on the Delphi Murders and I believe he has been on with Tricia here in the past.)

UNSOLVED-Shelbey Thornburgh and Missy Bevers - The Murder Squad

The idea that the perp's gait indicated they must have been somehow impaired, disabled, or in lousy shape isn't necessarily so. It may have simply been how they always walked naturally.

I am reminded of a player for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1980's, Everson Walls (#24), who was extremely splay footed. He certainly wasn't impaired -- he was a star.

Here's a video of some of his highlights, and while you see glimpses of it here and there in this video as he's often shifting directions, it's probably most noticeable at the 1:50-1:55 mark, where both his feet seem almost straight sideways as he starts to run. When you watched the games, you'd see it all the time.

It could be natural, it could be even professional (ballet dancers). It could also be the result of horseback riding, or, as I have recently read about Gary Cooper, the result of hip trauma incorrectly treated by horseback riding. If you go to Midlothian Police Department - TX FB, there is a February video of a local police officer avoiding a car that nearly hit him in icy road conditions. He, too, walks like it, but is very graceful.

I definitely think Missy was targeted. The video shows the suspect killing time in my opinion. He/she knew full well when Missy would be arriving, and the smashing of glass is just to create the illusion of a robbery. How many burglars take the risk of a "practice run"? and in a church where you will not gain a whole lot? Who is dumb enough to think churches leave offerings overnight in the building? You're going to do a practice run to steal a couple of computers?

Some churches might keep cash on hand. This could have been a young offender—possibly even an adolescent. I've been acquainted with teens with a history of criminal behavior, and this is exactly the type of crime I would expect a juvenile delinquent to commit. Malicious destruction of property for no apparent reason—just for fun, in other words—seems to be typical for teen offenders.

My primary scenario. Trying to make sense of some teenage acts by using the logic of an adult doesn't always work. I see the other scenarios as possibilities such as targeted while trying to keep an open mind, but this scenario is the one I tend to lean toward.

the disguise is key here..if its to hide the killer is a female for ex...a targeted killing becomes much more likely
I think it could also be for role playing—for instance it could be the costume of an adolescent wanting to play at being Billy Badass. My first guess would be that it's a teen male perp.

It doesn't seem logical that someone would plan to attack Missy at the church; anyone who knew that she would be there would have also known that her students were coming, too. Who's to say that one of them wouldn't have come early and beaten Missy to the church? I think that it's far more likely that the perp never dreamt that anyone would be there that early and that Missy interrupted a crime—either burglary or malicious destruction of property.

Some of these theories might also depend on whether or not the vehicle on CCTV at the gun store a couple of hours before the church break in is related. A person smashing a window or prying open a door might do it as a test and then wait at the store to check LE reaction. OR the vehicle at the store may have simply been casing the store and it is not related to murder at all.

It's not anything special. It's mostly a rerun of the same anniversary article from prior years, slightly retouched but mostly word-for-word. Nothing in it that we would consider newsy.
I wonder if something new may be released upon the anniversary of her death, coming up shortly?

its the unusual walk that makes us envision a female ..this was the thoughts of le as well..anyway we cant say one way or another
on another note.. it was a violent attack with multiple wounds..I would say someone who was just interrupted ( also wearing a full disguise ) would just hit and go..why an overkill ?

Obviously we will see what happens in another week, but I would guess that the DMN writer contacted LE and asked if they had anything new, before essentially just rerunning an old article warmed over, and was told 'we have nothing to add.' I don't think they perceive benefit anymore from stirring up attention (which is the only reason they'd reveal some of their evidence to the public).

In a search warrant released May 5, police said they have reason to believe Bevers and her husband were having "an ongoing financial and marital struggle as well as intimate/personal relationship(s) external to the marriage." They say they've recovered messages on Missy's devices that are "flirtatious" and "intimate."
Police think Bevers had been in contact with her killer, who may have used a cellphone to record the slaying, according to a search warrant affidavit.

Fitness instructor's family shocked she sent 'flirtatious' messages before she was killed
