It's dark there, so it may be very difficult to find a vehicle in the underbrush there. The garden center backs up to a golf course, and there is an access dirt road around the perimeter of the golf course, E and SE of the garden center footprint. I supposed there could be a marshy area in that strip of trees where the power line pylons are, but no ponds or streams are evident. It seems reasonable to expect that there are some drainage ditches beside the roads and the roundabout, and perhaps LE can find some tire tracks or signs of an impact.

I think LE will be working with lights and such throughout the night.

I definitely think this confirms they found two alive IMO as a direct result of the quick meaningful response.

So very sad. The loss of these young lives. :(

I can't imagine how difficult it has been for two to have survived for such a long time, in winter, in a serious condition, in (presumably) a wrecked car.

Yeah it's odd the way the appeals and headlines are focused on the 3 women and the men are almost an afterthought MOO
I know it's academic now but I did wonder if it was because no one had reported the men as being missing

Can the police decide that someone is officially missing in this type of situation just because they can't contact them? For all they knew the men could be quite safely somewhere else with their phones off

I don't know the answer but it might explain the difference in the way it was reported

That's what I presumed. That the women, being younger and in more constant contact with family, were nearly instantly reported missing. But the men being older, longer out of home etc wouldn't be as easily missed by family and friends wouldn't think too much of young men going a couple of days without being in contact. JMO MOO

Sincere condolences to the families of the occupants of the vehicle who have tragically died. I really hope the two people with serious injuries survive and recover as much as possible.

It is a pity that it looks like the survivors were unable to activate the emergency SOS button in the VW Tiguan or the car didn’t contact the emergency services itself if it detects it has been in an accident. The car can give the emergency services details with the car’s location etc immediately after the accident so that help arrives ASAP. I drive a VW Tiguan (the UK model with a shorter wheelbase than the U.S version) and was pleased to discover my car had this as a safety feature when I got it. Maybe it wasn’t set up in the VW Tiguan that has been involved in this terrible accident or the car couldn’t contact emergency services itself because of the severity of the accident and the damage to the car.

I don't suppose the female survivor had been in the car before and if the man isn't the owner he probably wouldn't have known

Do we even know if the car belonged to any of the 5, a Tiguan is a family car isn't it not one a younger person would drive
