If this burglar had entered Claudias house, did they decide to leave the TV and valuables including her bank card(s) that were highly visible upon her Dad visiting the house. Would her passport not also have been an attractive possession for a burglar to sell on.

Or are you suggesting that this burglar may have botched things and decided to cover their tracks by not removing anything?

Was the burglar being interviewed because they may have seen something that may have been valuable to police?

Major youre running away with the idea that the burglarly attempt was to steal goods..

There are burglars that break into homes purely with a perverse sexual intent
one reason being the one Officer Dibble discribed. other reasons are stalker related.
Watching the subject being close to the subject.

A profiler was bought in.. were they exploring the possibility that behaviours of these type of burglars could have progressed to activity which might include burglarly abduction, burglary rape!

I'd be more inclined to go for being buried myself, don't know the geography but how far away are the moors, or maybe dumped at sea, I wonder if anyone who has been considered a suspect has access to a boat

hope this isn't a wild goose chase....a friend who's bored during lockdown is doing some googling for me and she swears blind she's found a farm near York with its own animal disposal unit. that sells wholesale supplies to landscape gardeners....she forgot to write it down and we can't find it

sorry...I don't really think it was a random burglar or sex attacker..ill admit anything is possible though....according to Claudius mother the flat was left too tidily even. for claudia and she was supposed to be tidy...dont think a random intruder would have done this

I was thinking about this last night PJ.
Where would we be if disregarded all the conspiracy theories
Right back to first base if you ask me.
I mean all those vehicles and people the police asked for help in identifying on the NYP website havent yet been tracked down.
Personally I think we may be missing a trick here. Who knows what more the police may be able to reveal to us to if we can identify any of those vehicles or people.

I can't find any name tie ups but you never know who knows who....it doesn't have to be the owners....more likely some lower employee.

Not sure about that, as the sea is a long way away. Lots of people have died in the river Ouse over the years, but bodies are usually found sooner or later.

What I’d really like to know, and I’m not the only one surely, is how far NYP have progressed with the case in the last 3 years.

I appreciate that that they can’t make everything public, but they could update their CL web pages, even if just to say that they are no longer interested in identifying so-and-so on cctv, or that they’d like more info on something else. This would save both them and us (the public) time, which could be put to better use.

@MajorLang @keep-it-real : In your recent communication with the cold case team, were you able to find out what/if any progress has been made since they last updated the CL web pages?

Agree, for example Pawel Relowicz. And you would find other local reported lesser crimes leading up.

Your quite right. The use of the word Burglar confused me.
That got me "Galloping" away with the idea of it being a burglar.
I fully understand the concept of a predator.

If it was a predator I wonder if they took any of Claudias items and if so were they spotted and missed by anyone?

Wonder why Malyn is fixated on it being someone she knew-Perhaps it was but she had never classified them as a predator?

They only answered questions asked and in some cases took time and had to be pushed when providing an answer.
They were not asked on a progress report-I'm sure the answer would be political.

Cold case team did refer to a private cctv camera opposite Claudias house but the quality was poor due to condensation on window.
It was said that a local had placed this camera there because of vandalism.
Was this the Travel Agent I mentioned-Paul Smith of Quartz travel-Looked like he was being run out of town by the Heworth Mafia? It worked eventually and his business went bust more recently.

Whilst they couldn't be certain of who.

They did say that someone resembling Claudia returned to her home that afternoon.

This was the very last sighting but could it have been someone else?
Even in the Ch5 Doc in 2019, Peter Lawrence viewing Claudia leaving work was certain the footage of her was her.
When he watched the footage at Melrosegate Post Office, he was less certain, saying "That looks like Claudia"?
We asked a follow on question of cold case team re them using the footage to view previous and later activity for that and next day but their stock answer was that footage was unclear ?????
Personally I believe they know who went in and out of house but again clarity restricts this as hard and admissible evidence.

I suspect that the officer providing us with that detail probably regrets doing so and so had backtracked, possibly as instructed by a superior or having realised they had revealed too much. IMO.

Personally I had reached a point in my research which needed clarification from NYP wether one particular person featured on the NYP website had been identified and eliminated or not. They went away and checked and very quickly gave me a return call and confirmed the person was still unidentified. I only discussed the subject of my enquiry.

I enquired about the current status of the website and was advised that the website is not handled by Cold Case I suggested the public would appreciative if it was kept up todate and was assured that but would be passed on.
(apart from any obvious update notes on any of the subjects I was thinking along the lines of a basic last updated note with date added to the website under the header)
