Claudia Lawrence detectives try to increase pressure on killer
---
The murder inquiry has been scaled down after repeated frustrations over the fate of the 37-year-old, but detectives believe their quarry may retain links with York, where she vanished on her usual walk to work, and could be among hundreds of people already interviewed.

The head of the investigation, Detective Superintendent Ray Galloway, said on Friday that there was "a real potential" that he and his team might have spoken to the killer. The North Yorkshire force believes that Lawrence's "complex and mysterious" connections to a number of male friends hold the answer to the riddle.

Speaking to a national newspaper, her mother Joan, of Malton, said she felt police had been insensitive to her during the early stages of the investigation, after she was told her daughter had had “all these affairs with married men”, her flat was searched, and she was questioned on several occasions.

It always amzes me, that people can just disappear off the streets lie this in the UK when there is so much CCTV. It was the same with milly dowler, she disappeared in the one tiny patch where there was no CCTV. It makes me wonder if people try to research where the cameras are. Milly Dowler was targeted just because she happened to walk past Levi Bellfiled when he was hiding waiting to grab a woman. Was it something similar with Claudia, did someone find out where they could attack someone without anyone seeing, and she just had the misfortune to walk by that particular spot.

Police investigate Claudia Lawrence "psychic", Rodney Ballard

A “psychic” who claims to know who killed Claudia Lawrence has been reported to police.

Rodney Ballard, 66, has been following the case since Claudia disappeared in March 2009, after the 35-year-old is believed to have set off from her home in Heworth to work as a chef at the University of York.

But those close to Claudia claim his behaviour - which has allegedly included putting a wreath outside her door in Heworth, taking to social networking sites to blame those close to her for involvement in her disappearance and managing to post on the closed Find Claudia website - is harassment and have reported him to police.

In one post on his website, Mr Ballard has posted an online sketch of the moment he claims she was murdered.
