Judge Jacobs is now talking through Brehmer's evidence.

Brehmer accepted he was responsible for Mrs Parry's death, he said "I must have used too much force" but didn't want to kill her. He said he didn't kill her "in the heat of the moment".

2:55pm

On May 6, Brehmer and Mrs Parry had sex, he told court. He had no incline anything was wrong, he told the court.

On May 7, accusatory messages were building up from Mrs Parry. Brehmer said he gave as much information as he could but she wouldn't accept it.

On May 8, Brehmer said he was desperate and didn't sleep that night. He said he couldn't see anyway out.

He gave Mrs Parry access to social media on the Saturday and it made things worse, Brehmer said.

They arranged to meet and Brehmer made the decision to kill himself.

2:57pm

Brehmer accepted he lied to Martha (his wife) when he said he was going to work to pick up clean clothes and he arrived at the Horns Inn when he deleted his social media apps and obtained a refund from Screwfix so "someone could have the money after he was gone".

Brehmer said he didn't tell Mrs Parry about his plan to commit suicide. He said there was constant dialogue in the car, Mrs Parry was heated and he was sad.

The defendant said he took his phone off Airplane Mode which was when the "I'm cheating on you" text was sent. Martha phoned and Brehmer declined it and put the phone back on Airplane Mode. He then stabbed himself to "show how desperate he was", but Mrs Parry "didn't care".

2:59pm

Brehmer then factory reset his phone so "nobody could find him" after he killed himself.

Brehmer said after he reset the phone, there was constant conversation and Mrs Parry was "being nasty".

He said he needed to go and Mrs Parry said not until 3.55pm.

He then went to the passenger door to pull her out and couldn't so he "bundled" into the car to push her out, he told the court.

3:03pm

He said he was trying to push her out and at some point she was on her front in a press-up position with her hands out the car and she was doing "all she could" to stay in the car.

Brehmer said he fell on top of her by accident, his left arm was underneath her. He said it was like a "piggy-back".

3:05pm

Brehmer said he didn't recognise Mr Stentiford's name but recognised him when he came into court.

He said he did not say Mrs Parry was trying to get out the car, he described it as "a load of shoelaces".

3:07pm

While being cross-examined, Brehmer accepted he lied to his wife about the affair.

He agreed it is not good practice to take someone around the neck.

3:09pm

Brehmer denied buying the rope to emotionally blackmail Mrs Parry. He also denied he had agreed to meet her to talk her out of telling Mrs Brehmer about the affair.

3:11pm

The defendant accepted that the pushing and shoving wouldn't account for 20 minutes, but his conversation with Mrs Parry continued after the factory reset and he didn't have a concept of time.
