A jacket and boots still missing

DC Kerr is now being cross examined by the defence. She confirms that to the best of her knowledge, a green wax jacket, navy blue wellies and walking boots missing from the Royston house have not been found. Ian Stewart and his sons said these items could have been missing from the house following Helen’s disappearance. A yellow dog collar has also not been found.

OK so the Defence only found out about Joe & Nick on discovery then? This diary find was initiated by Defence. ( We spent a lot of posts wondering if IS or someone had been rooting through JS's old diaries at hartwell lodge.)

Clothes she was wearing - thought that was obviously as found and described by the pathologist?

Probably disposed of at the tip on Aprill 11th with the green duvet, long before Helen was reported missing.

But if that's all she had on in the pit, the question has to be did IS dispose of the other things to shore up his story about her going off on her own.

Cross posted with CP above and along the same line of thinking.

Stewart had not claimed his wife's estate

“Boxes in the garage were looked through and diaries were looked at, in those diaries whoever those people are, there are references to the name Joe, or Jo, and someone called Nick. “Throughout all of the diaries we looked at, there were about 14 references to both these names.” DC Kerr said she made inquiries into the value of Diane Stewart’s (Ian Stewart’s late wife) estate, which is £43,000, and this has not been sought to be claimed by Stewart. She said at some stage, a body had been found in Scotland and this was passed on to Stewart, who was then told it was not Helen’s body.

that is interesting. I thought I remembered an article, post arrest, that said the green jacket turned up.
If it did not, then I wonder when it * went missing *.

There was a potential sighting of Helen ( the only one that I remember being put into msm, other than the dog walkers story ) about a woman wearing a green wax jacket, seen by a truck driver on Tuesday April 12 near to Weston ( just outside Baldock ).
Do wonder if Helen's jacket disappeared after this time ?

Or did he change her clothing after death... did he change her out of bed clothes to day wear...

Yes Alyce I also seem to remember a story that the green wax jacket turned up at home?

IF Helen's wax jacket, wellies and walking boots are missing - perhaps they are in the Tip too. And no doubt IS hid little Boris' collar as another of his 'cover ups'.

Stewart denies killing Helen Bailey

Ian Stewart confirms his name and date of birth. He is looking at the indictment. Within two minutes of going into the witness box, he denies killing Ms Bailey, taking any part in the killing or her death, or knowing anything about a body. He also denies the charge of fraud - and denies taking any part in altering the standing order. Stewart said he wasn’t aware of the death of Helen until July 15, and had no knowledge of a dead body.

He already had some payouts from her death, wonder why he hadn't claimed the 43k. Was it that he met Helen around the time the estate was all finalised and saw another source of income on the horizon or is there some financial advantage to leaving it unclaimed?

Denies perverting the course of justice

Stewart said he did not pervert the course of public justice by disposing of a duvet, reporting Helen missing, or disposing of Helen’s mobile phone.

Not losing my marbles after all.

No defence opening speech.
