Green bedspread missing

“The defendant also texted the cleaner this day ‘are you coming today? OK if you’re not coming, Helen is away’.

“The cleaner did go to the house in Royston that morning and arrived shortly after the text had been sent.

“The cleaner said she was greeted by Stewart, who told her not to change the bedding because he had already done so.

“She said a t-shirt and a pair of trousers belonging to Helen were on top of the wash basket, which she told you was unusual.

“She said Helen always put her clothes in the wash basket, not on top of them.

“She also said a green bedspread was not there, and said she has not seen it since despite continuing to clean the house.”

At 4.30pm the defendant attended the solicitors to drop off paperwork relating to the sale of Helen’s Gateshead property.

He said he was on the floor winded after being punched in the keyhole by Nick at 4:15pm

Stewart's visit to tip

“The defendant returned to the same recycling site a few days after disposing of the duvet and the cardboard boxes.

“You will have to consider the purpose of the defendant’s visit on April 13 was to check whether the duvet had been taken away, or as Stewart said, was simply to take more boxes to the tip.”

Brother said Helen should be reported missing

“John Bailey told Stewart he would continue trying to contact Helen, and if he didn’t succeed he would go to Broadstairs. “He said he took a train to Broadstairs on April 14.

He could find no trace of Helen there, and phoned Stewart to tell him so.

“John Bailey said to Stewart that Helen had been out of contact for too long, and that they should report Helen missing. Stewart said he would report her missing.”

The interim will was in the form of a discretionary trust and TH was the sole trustee.

Yes - I looked up Hurley's quotes in the reporting pause:
He again acknowledges that Ms Bailey did not tell him he was the sole executor of her will and that it was subject to a discretionary trust. But he says it is “not completely uncommon for executors not to be shown wills.”

What was purpose of text?

“Stewart sent a text to Helen’s phone on 10.10pm on April 11, it read ‘*advertiser censored*’.

“Was that because the defendant knew Helen was dead, that he had her phone, and there was no point in sending texts to her?

“Or was it because Joe and Nick had told him not to contact her?”

Stewart reported Helen missing

“On April 15 the defendant reported Helen Bailey missing. You have a full transcript of that call. “You’ll want to consider what he said during this phone call.

The prosecution say at the time he made the call, he had Helen’s phone. On page 9 he said Helen’s phone was turned off, and later says ‘we think it’s out of service, out of range’.

“He is asked if Helen was subjected to crime, to which he answers ‘no’.

“The prosecution say this is significant due to his account in court.”

Police told by Stewart that Helen had gone to Broadstairs

“Stewart told the first police officer to arrive at the house that Helen had left him a note saying she had gone to Broadstairs.

“He said he might have taken the note to the tip, when the police officer asked to see it.

“The officer checked Helen’s computer and noticed that no emails had been sent since April 11.

“There was also an iPad which required a password.

Stewart gave the officer an iPad mini, which also needed a password.

“The defendant said he did not know this code.”

In my mind, this absolutely and clearly shows which way Judge Bright feels this should go.

He's basically asking: did he send it because he's guilty, or did he send it even though he was told not to make contact and may have put Helen in severe danger by doing so?

besides Bright's more obvious slam-dunk comments i like his eye for detail

The prosecution say at the time he made the call, he had Helen’s phone. On page 9 he said Helen’s phone was turned off, and later says ‘we think it’s out of service, out of range’

Helen Bailey 'excited' by engagement plan

“Jeweller Sophia Marsh told you that on March 8, 2016 Helen came to see her, with Stewart, for designs for an engagement ring.

She said “Helen was also interested in buying a wedding ring. She said Helen seemed excited and engaged in the conversation, but Stewart did not.”

Jeebus, I had forgotten about this date so recent to her death.......:jail:

Stewart seemed 'shocked' when Helen's passport was found

“All four vehicles at the house were searched but nothing untoward was found.

“Stewart’s BMW and Helen’s Jeep were parked in the driveway, Helen’s Fiat 500 was parked in the garage. “Sergeant Nicole Goodyear later arrived, and said they would be carrying out a search of the house, including the grounds and outbuildings.

“She said during the search of the house Stewart was watching their every move. “

She said she found Helen’s passport on her desk. She said the defendant appeared shocked she had found this passport.

Helen 'very anxious'

“Another officer spoke to Stewart in the hallway about the note he said Helen had left.

Stewart said he may have taken this to the rubbish tip by accident.

“He said the reason for the delay in reporting Helen missing was that Helen would be very angry with him for doing so.

“Stewart said Helen wasn’t on any medication, but had been very anxious lately.”

Oh lovely, the way he slipped in the fact that IS contacted Helen after allegedly being told not to AND that he still had her bloody phone anyway.
