Stewart did not mention anyone else involved in disappearance

“DS Gilbertson told you that she asked the defendant questions over two hours, and made notes of his answers.

“The prosecution point to the fact that at no stage did the defendant mention anyone else might be involved in Helen’s disappearance.”

Stewart sent message to Helen's phone

At 11.32pm on April 15, the defendant sent a text to Helen’s phone, at a time he admits he had her phone in his possession.

The message reads: ‘I’m now really worried about you. You didn’t go to Broadstairs! I’ve contacted the police, I had no choice. They want to publicise this. Love you more, please let us know you are OK. We’re all really worried’.

“The prosecution say this text makes no sense if what the defendant told you about the kidnappers was true, but that it makes perfect sense if it was sent to maintain the pretence that Helen was missing.”

SLAM DUNK!

Stewart in 'terrible state'

“The defendant made a journey to Leatherhead on April 18, 2016.

“The offices of Anthony Hurley had once been there, and the defendant went there without realising the offices had been moved to London.

“Mr Hurley received a call from his PA asking him to call the defendant.

He said when he called him, the defendant said ‘I am in a terrible state, I was going to look you straight in the eye and ask you if Helen was staying with you.

“Mr Hurley told him that if she had turned up on his doorstep, he would’ve told her to contact the police. “The prosecution ask why if the defendant knew Helen had been kidnapped by Joe and Nick, why didn’t he confide in Tony Hurley, rather than ask him if Helen was with him, which he knew not to be true?”

he must have been cussing and had a sweat on when he turned up at Leatherhard and found THurley long since removed.

Message sent to Helen's phone

The defendant also sent Helen’s phone a series of text messages, and tried to call her.

The defendant said this was to send a message to the kidnappers, A text on April 18 read ‘I have respected your wishes long enough, You’ve had enough space. Just let me know where you are, OK? Love you whatever.’

“The prosecution say this and other texts were designed to give credibility to the false story he was telling police, when the truth was he killed her and hid her body in a cesspit in the garage.

“The defendant denied that this was so.”

Helen 'very anxious'

“Another officer spoke to Stewart in the hallway about the note he said Helen had left.

Stewart said he may have taken this to the rubbish tip by accident.

“He said the reason for the delay in reporting Helen missing was that Helen would be very angry with him for doing so.

“Stewart said Helen wasn’t on any medication, but had been very anxious lately.”

I wonder if the 2nd trip to the tip was so he could pretend to have disposed of the note then... after realisng that he wouldnt even have found the note yet at the time of his first trip visit.

Stewart asked if further search was 'really necessary'

Stewart asked police if a further search of the house in April was really necessary.

Sergeant Oliphant, who conducted the search, said the defendant would leave them to get on with the search before coming back and asking how it was progressing.

“He said at times the defendant was really quite dismissive.

“He said while the garage was being searched by his colleagues, none of the vehicles were removed but were left parked in the garage.

“The search was completed at 3.30pm.”

Police had no access to phone after April 20

“On April 20 the defendant allowed police to download details from his phone, but he wouldn’t let them keep his phone for long, saying this would b e how Helen contacted him.

“The defendant later told you in evidence that the defendant lost his phone. Police had no access to the phone after April 20.”

Broadstairs router found in Royston

“On April 21 a wifi router was recovered from the Broadstairs house.

“It was found that Helen’s phone connected to this router on April 16.

“A detective travelled to Broadstairs later on, but the router was not there. It was eventually found on August 30 in the Royston house, and that it had been restored to its factory settings.

“The prosecution said the defendant deliberately reset the router to cover his tracks.”

ah, still hidden away in a box on August 30 ....but this was the router that was * on display* according to Defence Counsel and was * going to be used as an extender * according to IS

Officer said Stewart cut them short

“DC Daines told you she explained to the defendant that it was important to get a formal account from him as to Helen going missing.

“She said he kept cutting her and DC Lockwood short. He said he was not feeling well. “DC Daines suggested they would come to interview Stewart the next day.”

Officer 'shocked' by Stewart's behaviour

“She said she was shocked at the way the defendant behaved while they were with him.

“She said he would sit slouched in the chair, with minimal eye contact.

“She said he would also turn his head to the side, and look at them and grin.

“When considering this evidence, you’ll want to bear in mind the fact the defendant was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, affecting the muscles for facial expression.”

Wow Judge Bright really has a measure of Big Bean. Obviously enjoyed his medical condition being reduced to piles!
And the fact that his evidence contradicts itself! Eg visiting Tony Hurley and asking if Helen was with him and yet stating that Helen "was with NiJo" on the box.
Happy Birthday Jen - hope you are having a lovely day so far. X:party::bdsurprise::cake4u::cake4u:

Stewart appeared 'very anxious' when recovery dog was brought in

“On April 16 there was search of the Royston house including a victim recovery dog.

“It was said that the dog wouldn’t have been able to detect a body immersed in excrement, beneath a lid designed to prevent smell coming from it.

“Stewart expressed concern about ornaments being broken during the police search and appeared very anxious.”

I think that date must be April 19 or 22 - can't be April 16, that was when IS went to Broadstairs
