I still think that slashing the tyres of her car was connected to him.

It happened a year ago so his animosity/anger had been bubbling and growing - turning into lethal rage.

Her murder seems premeditated - why would he take her to a forest in the first place?

If he wanted to talk, he could have invited her to a restaurant/cafe like a civilised person.

Instead he took her to wilderness :(

The 50-year-old, who appeared on video link, has not yet entered any plea to the charge of murder.

Judge Medland QC set a date for Burfield to return to court on August 22 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

A trial will take place on November 14 2022.

Burfield has been remanded in custody until the next court hearing.

I did wonder whether he had agreed to do something with her car, under false pretences, and offered to give her a lift back home because she would have had to leave the car there. Perhaps waiting 15 minutes for him to get dressed or something. Maybe posting a note through to let him know? That doesn't explain why she left belongings in her car though, although maybe it wasn't anything valuable and she expected to get it back with her car later that day.

Just speculation.

Yes, it would help to know what the "belongings" left in the car actually were. If there was anything important, like a bag or wallet with bank cards etc, I would assume she wasn't expecting to go anywhere in the van - just joining him in it to talk perhaps.
But if it was just a coat, shopping bag, things you wouldn't worry about losing, then she may have gone willingly on a journey.

But that would have indicated friendly relationship.
But she was murdered - like "out of the blue"???

I think it could be as we said earlier - she just hopped into the van, parked next to her car, for just a moment or two, not planning on going anywhere, so leaving all her own stuff in her car - apart from her mobile which she probably had in her hand.

All MOO of course as we don't know exactly where the car and van were parked.

We are today continuing our search for missing Katie Kenyon

Specialist officers are continuing to search the Forest of Bowland area and these searches will continue over the coming days.

Katie’s family are being kept up to date with developments and they continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

A search of an area which had been identified as of particular interest yesterday proved negative.

We will of course update you when we know more, although as I’m sure people will understand, our activity could take a number of days.

Andrew Burfield, 50, of Todmorden Road in Burnley, was due to appear at Preston Crown Court today (Friday, April 29th) charged with Katie’s murder.
