This is interesting. She was not required to confirm her name herself and judge and officials did not wear gowns/wigs. Is this always done like this when the accused is a minor or is this just for her?
I think always

The 15 year old. Posters are suggesting that they can detect something "off" in her photo and others are speculating that it is her dress style.

There is now a photo of her made public?

No. No photo has been publicly or officially released of the accused. He photos that are being commented on are taken from social media. Some news outlets have published the photos as well but have blurred faces and have not pointed out the accused in photos.

I guess the assumption is the killer is a close member of the family in which case pictures of the family can be found on parents facebook pages.. along with a discripton from the mother of her family which included her step daughter then 8 or 9 ... which would now be 15

15 y/o has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon. Surely a craft knife cannot be classed as such. Maybe it was a stanley knife. Does that mean that if I took my stanley knife to a neighbour to borrow, I could be charged with possession of an o/w in between houses?

I can't see anything 'off' with her appearance.

Neither can I. In both pics I have seen she is smiling and looking happy.
The only slightly odd thing is that she is wearing apparently the same plain white shirt or blouse in both, where one might expect her to be wearing something different, less "everyday", for the wedding.

I suppose, it might have been expected that she was wearing the same bridesmaid dress as the other 2 daughters are, but it could be she didn't want to be bridesmaid.

I was asking about that charge earlier and got this link in response...

ETA: It's actually very interesting as I had no grasp of the laws regarding knives in the UK.

No, I wouldn't automatically assume she should be a bridesmaid: as you say, not everyone wants to be. It's just that she isn't wearing anything "special" for such an occasion. Perhaps she has a "thing" about wearing certain clothes.
She does look happy and her dad has his arm around her.

It stood out to me that she looks a great deal happier than the little one in that photo. It also stood out that she has her hair done prettily just like Katie.

The wedding was very recent, so we are looking at people posing outside in mid winter. Poor Katie in her sleeveless bridesmaids dress was probably feeling the cold!

Actually everyone is looking in different directions, so it's probably a candid snap taken in between poses.

I thought that the wedding photo that people are referring to here (the one reproduced in the press with the pixelated faces) might have shown the older half-sister (same mom) and not the step sister...

ETA: sorry I have not read every post so if this has been clarified, can someone please link me?

IMO she may have been just a quiet, shy girl. Her school describes her headteacher stated: “Katie was a kind and thoughtful child who was well liked by both pupils and staff. She was hard working and showed a particular talent for creative writing."

They don't say she was talkative etc. Which isn't bad, she sounds like she was a very sweet little girl. She may have just not liked her picture taken. I guess as the case moves forward we will find out more. Maybe there was a history their which made her uncomfortable.
