Looks like Beadman will be getting life.

Beadman has to get life, that is the mandatory sentence for murder.
The only variable is how many years he will have to serve before he will be allowed to apply for parole.

Why would they destroy their phones and computers? I would have thought they should be stored like any other evidence, for a number of years.

Why could they not have done this directly after LHs, at 12.20 instead of taking a long lunch break. Judge could have considered her verdict over lunch and sentenced at 2pm.

Mrs Justice Cox said she has a “great deal” to say, as she asks the court to remain seated.

“I have a great deal to tell you”, she says.

“This case illustrates dangers of social media for you people ease of people like Harlow.”

An immediate and substantial sentence will follow for Harlow

Mrs Jusice Cox: “You persistently and in a calculating way groomed young girls.

“Evidence shows you to be intelligent, not the socially isolated and immature man you have been portrayed as.”

Judge tells Harlow he groomed Kayleigh


Mrs Justice Cox spoke to Harlow about his actions.

“Kayleigh was a young and sexually inexperienced schoolgirl.

“You knew her age and met her, knowing she had lied to her family.”

Mrs Justice Cox continued: “You and Beadman held Kayleigh captive.

“That night there was a moment when Kayleigh escaped and you, Beadman chased her.

“Kayleigh was extremely distressed.”

“I pay tribute to the dignified way the family has behaved in court”, judge says.

Earlier, Kayleigh’s mum spoke to the judge about how much damage and heartbreak her daughter’s death has caused.

“Kayleigh was only a child. She was my baby.

“Not only was I robbed of my daughter, I was robbed of saying my last goodbye to her.”

Harlow's other victims are still suffering, judge says


Mrs Justice Cox said how Harlow’s previous victims of grooming are “still suffering”.

He previously groomed at least two other underage girls.

“These two girls you encouraged to meet with you - you did so for your sexual gratification.”

Harlow "emotionally manipulated" Kayleigh


Harlow sent Kayleigh messages that were “emotionally manipulative”, the court heard.

“The messages from you to her were emotional manipulation. That is a serious aggravating feature.”

She also said how he plied Kayleigh with alcohol before her rape and murder.

Harlow sentenced to 12 years

Luke Harlow has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

He previously admitted the sexual assault and grooming of 15-year-old Kayleigh Haywood.

Beadman has yet to be sentenced.

Beadman has been sentenced to life in prison.

He previously admitted to raping and killing Kayleigh Haywood.

The judge said: “You did not kill her straight away. You led her away and raped her.

“Her pain and terror are difficult to contemplate.”

She has now began sentencing for murder.

Mrs Justice Cox said the minimum term of 30 years is not sufficient.

She said: “Kayleigh was young, had been groomed and had been drinking.

“After you killed Kayleigh you searched online for ‘lime pit’. This is chilling.”

The judge continues to address Beadman.

“You waited 3 days before telling police what you had done.

In those days Kayleigh was a missing person and her family and friends at their wits end.”

35 years minimum for murder

Mrs Justice Cox has now sentenced Beadman for murder.

He will serve 35 years minimum. Kayleigh’s family seem happy about this.

Earlier he was sentenced to 15 years minimum for rape.

I think a minimum of 35 years is very fitting. I thought Harlow should have had more, as I think (could be wrong) that with good behaviour it could be less?
