I'm curious about the possible sighting on the bus with an older lady, with the implication that Liam was "with" her, whatever that means. It seems so random and mysterious to just throw that in the mix of limited information made public.

I do hope he's done some kooky teen-age thing, like he read Into the Wild or something, and got a wild hair, and that he's not come to harm.

I think that sighting has been discounted. And the 2nd sighting on Crathes estate once discussed early in investigation is not mentioned anymore in recent updates so I imagine that could not be verified

Just in my opinion i would go along with some kind of family disagreement,! fall out etc in the days prior to his disappearance, we know so little about the lad and his family habitat, i just don't see signs of a close family environment'!!

We really don't know anything about the family/home environment, do we?

He's above average height and in my middle aged lady opinion, a good looking lad, so I would imagine he'd stand out a bit, and be more apt to be someone you'd remember.

I hope there is a lot more going on behind the scenes, re the CCTV, etc.

Normally boys tend to be closer to the father and girls to the mother, do we know if the father is his or his step father? we seam to know very little about the family, is Liam the only child? brothers or sisters ?

I'm new to thread but following since December on Facebook. Family hostile toward any questions. Claim its invasion of privacy. Liam's mom recently married and step dad apparently confiscated phone which actually bodes imo.
Thats the kind of invirament i experienced on the fb page , must be a heck of a lot more then we have been told going on pre disappearance, imo,

The mother is young, born 1985 and step dad too born 1981. Verified on companies house.

They might just be very private people, which I can understand as that's the way I am. But I suppose this circumstance is not the time to be private! So yeah, maybe there is more of a backstory.

I thought suicide. But I can't think how this young boy could of found a spot that no one else can find. Im wondering what info William tell has.

Phone confiscated - is this verified info? We can all imagine storming off after having our phone confiscated. But I would have went too see my pals at that age....why did he get on that bus.

We dont have much to go on here.

I’m local and still keeping an eye out for any updates but it seems like he vanished without a trace after getting off that bus.

The only thing I can think that verified he was at Crathes was he must be in the background or walking by on a picture or video etc.

I haven’t even seen wild speculative rumours about it either it’s all very hush hush

I want Crathes to be searched again, I wish I lived closer.

Does anyone know if there were ever local search and rescue teams involved and what the organisation is called?

17 February 2019:

It's thought Liam may have got off the bus at Crathes, but specialist teams have yet found no trace of the 6ft4in schoolboy.

Officers say they have been using "highly specialised and methodical work" in a bid to trace the teen, with their central search point being based around Crathes.

At the time, Chief Inspector Martin Mackay added: "Our inquiries still suggest he would have travelled to the Crathes area. We urge residents, particularly in this area, to remain vigilant and report anything unusual to police.

"We know that many people have offered to assist with searches, however we carry out these operations in a highly specialised, methodical way with officers who are trained and experienced.

First time I've had a quick look at Google Maps for this case, thanks for the links @HayLouise. My two immediate observations were how close Crathes is to the River Dee, and also how there are two roads which could have taken Liam to Stonehaven or Aberdeen. I'm assuming MSM hasn't mentioned whether he has connections in either area?

No mention of connections as far as I'm aware :/

What exactly does "highly specialised and methodical" mean?

And is anyone able to verify if he had his phone or not? I've missed that.

Methodical - done according to a systematic or established procedure
