A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "A witness had described having a conversation with a lady matching Lindsay's description at the top of Peel Park Avenue at 4.30pm.

Ongoing CCTV enquiries have discovered that the time of this encounter was in fact nearer to 6.30pm. This was a genuine mistake by a witness trying their very best to help.

Detective Inspector Tim McDermott, said: "We are now treating Lindsay's last sighting as at 6:30pm, not 4:30pm on Monday 12.
We want to speak to a dog walker and a couple who were also walking dogs in the area around the same time as Lindsay as they could hold vital information.

Police confirm they have widened the search for missing Lindsay Birbeck

So if the CCTV was 4.10pm, she could have gone into Accrington and been on her way home when the witness saw her?

I was just googling and came across another woman missing since 12 August in the exact same area. This woman was due to be evicted the day she went missing.

"She would have come out of my aunties and gone onto Peel Park Avenue but I'm unsure if she went on Burnley Road or past the Peel Park Pub."

Pamela's family spoke to police on August 12, but she was not deemed as a missing person at this time.

Wasn't she supposed to have tea with her daughter around 6pm? Was she supposed to meet at her daughter's place? Was her daughter coming to her mom's place? When was Lindsay reported missing?

I don't believe there has been any mention of when Lindsay last used her phone, which is unusual as normally in a missing person's case this is the first bit of information that the police make public knowledge. For some reason the police are keeping this information to themselves - unless Lindsay didn't own one?

From today's Lancashire Telegraph:

Search widens for missing Lindsay Birbeck

The teacher was last seen wearing a purple Rab bubble jacket, black leggings, a white shirt with blue pin stripes and black trainers with a white sole.

Her Huawei phone is also still missing.

Ms Birbeck has links to Accrington and Burnley, as well as Kendal in Cumbria.

At last - the first mention of Lindsay's phone.

I find the fact her phone went off at the beginning of the walk (I think a report says 15:58) and now the fact she was still out at 6:30 especially when some reports say she was supposed to meeting her daughter back at home at 6 really concerning and has made me sway from misadventure or foul play to perhaps suicide I think if you were going to run off and start a new life you wouldn’t begin by walking around your home town for over two hours! Although having. Said that would you be talking to people if you were in a depressed state? Really puzzling one this. Fingers crossed she’s found safe

That is very strange. Walking around town for all that time. Especially when you're having tea with your daughter at 6pm. I just don't know what to think

Even more puzzling now it's been confirmed the last time she was seen was at 6.30 rather than 4.30. The CCTV picked up Lindsay at 4.10 on Burnley road so where was she for over 2 hours between that sighting and speaking to the witness at 6.30 on Peel Park avenue?

It really is a mystery. You would imagine if she'd have gone to a supermarket/pub etc in that time she would have been picked up on cctv. I'm wondering why she switched her phone off just before 4pm

I also don’t think you’d walk all that way to the centre of Accrington if you were going shopping, plus phone was off or had died and she didn’t take a purse so wouldn’t have been able to pay for anything using Apple Pay ( unless she took cash but left her purse. And you wouldn’t want to carry much back home with the distance. There are a few shops nearby maybe 15 min walk from the park open late like B and M and Home Bargains so you could go for a browse there but I’m sure police would have checked CCTV all along the main routes so I don’t think she visitors these, or other shops.
