I think so. To admit she's lying now would look even worse for her in her eyes.
Do we think AW will stick to the ridiculous story that she was asleep and doesnt know how logan died?
AW could go down the terrorised by JC in to doing nothing to help. May explain why they are trying to put her phone in his hands. She could claim she was prevented from calling for help

Case resumes on Tuesday, April 5
The trial resumes. Prosecutor Caroline Rees QC asks Cole to turn to a document called Schedule of Events.

CCTV footage from the early hours of July 27, 2021, showed Angharad Williamson walking into the yard of 5 Lower Llansantffraid.

On the same date witness Callum Williams claimed Cole, the youth, and Logan appeared on a Facebook video call from Cole’s property in Maesglas.

Cole claimed Mr Williams had got it wrong. He said: “Logan didn’t go out. He had Covid, we didn’t take him out that week.”

Ms Rees said: “You’re not carrying Logan are you? Nothing happened to Logan in Maesglas?”

Cole said: “No, Logan was isolating.”

Just going back to AW's comment when she was in the hospital with LM when she asked 'Why is he wet'? and the nurse said he was found in the river.

I wonder if JC actually told AW that night that he'd put LM on the riverbank and not in the river?

Always thought her question was either odd, or trying to divert from actually knowing he was in the river.

That makes me think she may well have said, 'just get rid of him' and that she was awake.

And that's why JC is sticking to the riverbank story.

MOO

I have the feeling that JC is indicating that the youth had a part to play in the disposal - maybe he moved the body. JC doesn’t want to say he was witness to it, but he doesn’t want to take all the responsibility for it either. I recall that when they were going through the bodycam evidence from the morning of the discovery of the body, AW was saying something along the lines of ‘he wouldn’t be wet’ or ‘he wouldnt have drowned’ (I can’t remember exactly) and the youth said something like ‘he would if he had gone in the water’. It raised my suspicions at the time I heard it.

Williamson sobs in the dock as Cole is questiones
Prosecutor Caroline Rees QC, who is cross-examining defendant John Cole, turns to the events of July 29, 2021, when Angharad Williamson was seen being pursued by the youth on CCTV. Ms Rees said: “What was that incident all about?"

Cole said: “Me and Angharad had an argument after she shook Logan after something happened to her stereo and laptop. She went out of the flat and [the youth] followed her.”

When asked where Williamson shook Logan Cole said: “By the biceps.” He demonstrated how Williamson shook the five-year-old. Ms Rees said: “Angharad is much bigger than Logan and was shouting in his face. What was she shouting?”

Cole said: “Stop *advertiser censored***** lying.”

Ms Rees said: “How did you feel?”

Cole said: “We had an argument about it and she stormed out of the house…. I told her to let him go.”

Ms Rees said: “You’d seen her do that before?”

Cole said: “Once before yes.”

Ms Rees said: “What did you shout to her?”

Cole said: “'Back the *advertiser censored** up', something like that….. It just shocked me.”

Ms Rees said: “How did Logan react to mother shaking him and telling him to: ‘Stop *advertiser censored***** lying’?”

Cole said: “I don’t remember….. He weren’t crying. When she shook him my focus was on Angharad.”

It was put to Cole it was claimed by Williamson he and the youth had attacked Logan. Ms Rees said: “It’s her case she stormed out because you attacked Logan and punched him to the abdomen repeatedly."

Cole said: “I didn’t punch Logan."

Ms Rees said: "Did you punch so hard he went flying?"

Cole said: “I didn’t punch Logan.”

Ms Rees said: “Did [the youth] sweep him?”

Cole said: “No.”

Ms Rees said: “Did you punch him and laugh and say: 'That was a good one'?”

Cole said: “I didn’t hit him.”

Ms Rees said: “Was [the youth] having a good laugh?”

Cole said: “[The youth] didn’t do anything.”

Ms Rees said: “So Angharad left the house hysterical and crying because she was violent to Logan?”

Cole said: “I didn’t go out.”

The defendant said he spoke to Williamson when she got back in and they “sorted things out”.

Ms Rees said: “What caused Angharad to be so upset it gained the attention of passers by?”

Cole said: “I told you, I didn’t go out.” He added: “She said she wouldn’t do it again and it was left at that.”

Ms Rees said: “Did you in fact repeatedly punch Logan to the stomach the next day and was the assault from you and [the youth] on Logan the next day?”

Cole said: “I didn’t punch Logan.”

Ms Rees said: “Do you know he had injuries to his abdomen consistent with knuckle punches?”

Cole said: “I wish. I do kow.”

Ms Rees said: “Do you know how it came to be his liver was lacerated?”

Cole said: “I wish. I do now.”

Ms Rees said: “Do you know how his duodenum was degloved?”

Cole said: “I woke up to Logan being dead and it didn’t make sense.”

Williamson can be heard sobbing in the dock.

The topic changes to the events of July 30 2021.

Ms Rees said: “Why did you keep his curtains closed?”

Cole said: “I don’t know. Maybe the light was coming in.”

The court heard Logan tested negative for Covid on July 30, 2021, and Cole said Williamson decontaminated his room but Logan was still isolated in his room.

Ms Rees said: “He’s still being kept behind this barred gate while he was isolating in his room.”

Cole said: “We kept the curtains closed so the light wasn’t reflecting on the TV so he could watch a film.”

He was asked why the mattress protector was kept on the bed but the rest of his bed clothes were placed in the wash.

The defendant said: “I don’t know, Angharad dealt with that.”

Ms Rees said: “Was the tumble dryer going when the police arrived the next day?”

Cole said: “I don’t know, I wasn’t in the house…. Me and [the youth] were making it look like we were looking for Logan.”

Ms Rees said: “Someone must have put the tumble dryer on that morning before the police arrived?”

Cole said: “I don’t know, I wasn’t in the house.”

Ms Rees said: “Were you trying to cover up blood on the bed sheet before the police came?”

Cole said: “No.”

Ms Rees said: “Are you saying Angharad is responsible for that?”

Cole said: “I don’t know.”

Cole is asked about the visit of social worker Debbie Williams to 5 Lower Llansantffraid on July 30. Ms Williams did not enter the property during the 20-minute visit and was kept on the doorstep.

The defendant previously told the court Logan was behaving badly all day. Ms Rees said: “How did you keep him quiet while Debbie Williams was at the door?”

Cole said: “He was watching a film in his room.”

Ms Rees said: “Was he already unconscious by that stage and was that why his bedroom curtain was closed all day?”

Cole said: “No.”

Ms Rees said: “It’s not because he’s already been attacked and lost consciousness? You didn’t keep the curtain closed to hide what had happened in that room?”

Cole said: “No.”

It was a rough day for all of us'
Prosecutor Caroline Rees QC turns to the evening of July 30, 2021, as she cross-examines John Cole. Ms Rees said: “It must have a difficult day for you Mr Cole?”

Cole said: “It had been a difficult week.”

The defendant was asked about Logan’s meals that day. He said: “We gave him his breakfast and tried to give him lunch and tried to give him dinner but he didn’t eat.”

Ms Rees said: “Why was he in his pyjamas in the afternoon? Cole said: “They were cooler clothes.”

The defendant is asked about an incident where Williamson is alleged to have picked Logan up by his clothing.

Cole said: “She picked him up from the back of his top like that (he demonstrates to the jury).”

Ms Rees said: “Did his feet leave the floor?”

Cole said: “No I don’t believe they did….. She told him to get back in his room….. Basically he wouldn’t get up off the floor, he was on his hands and knees and Angharad picked him up from the top.”

Ms Rees said: “It was enough force to rip his pyjama top?”

Cole said: “It snagged the collar, yes.”

Ms Rees said: “Did she throw him?”

Cole said: “Not at that point no….. It was earlier on when she threw him on the bed.”

Ms Rees said: “You were quite rough with him that day…… It wasn’t a very good day for him.”

Cole said: “It was a rough day for all of us.”

Ms Rees said: “I’m not asking about you, I’m asking about Logan.”

Defendant denies Logan was showered to 'clean up blood, sick, or signs of an assault'
Defendant John Cole, who is in the witness box being cross-examined by prosecutor Caroline Rees QC, continued to describe the events of July 30, the day before Logan’s body was found.

Cole said: “It was hard for him to understand that because he had Covid he couldn’t be out and about with us.”

Ms Rees said: “Treating him roughly, throwing him about on the bed. That’s not showing him much understanding.”

Cole said: “I didn’t throw him with force…. [Angharad] didn’t throw him with force.”

Ms Rees said: “When did you clip him over the head?”

Cole said: “It was in the afternoon…. I clipped him, I didn’t swing.”

The prosecutor asked Cole to show the size of his hand to the jury. Ms Rees said: “You hit Logan with that hand.”

Cole said: “I’m not proud of it.”

The defendant was asked how the incident came about.

Cole said: “He was jumping up and running around…. He kept climbing on things, dropping to the floor and running around when we tried to put him in the naughty corner.”

Ms Rees said: “Did you lose your temper and assault Logan?”

Cole said: “I clipped him but no. I suppose that is an assault.”

Ms Rees said: “Hitting a five-year-old is an assault…. Everyone was fed up of Logan that day?”

Cole said: “We both tried to put him in the corner, both tried to feed him, and both tried to wash him. We were working together.”

Ms Rees said: “What state was he in by the time it was time to get him in the shower?”

Cole said: “He was hyperactive. Logan never liked showers. He was scared of water. When we took him to Blackpool we went to a water park and we went to the beach and I sat him in the water.”

Ms Rees said: “Why did you shower him that night?”

Cole said: “He showered every night, it was routine.”

Ms Rees said: “You weren’t cleaning up blood, sick, or signs of an assault?”

Cole said: “No.”

The defendant said Williamson sat in a chair in Logan’s room that night and he went to sleep in his own room.

My main instinct was to save him and I made some bad judgement calls, I wasn’t thinking clearly'
Defendant John Cole said he woke up at 2.15am on July 31 last year after being woken up by Angharad Williamson.

He said: “She told me Logan was dead and she heard him take her last breath….. She came in screaming: ‘He’s dead, he’s dead’.... I’ve gone straight in with Angharad.”

Prosecutor Caroline Rees QC, who is cross-examining him, said: “What sort of state was she in?”

Cole said: “Hysterical.”

Ms Rees said: “Was that the same when the police arrived the next day?”

Cole said: “No, it was an act….. There was emotion there because Logan was dead.”

Ms Rees said: “What did you see?”

Cole saidL “Logan’s head was cocked back, his eyes were open and his knees were up to his chest…. It wasn’t normal…. I tried to do CPR on him.”

Ms Rees said: “What did you say to Angharad?”

Cole said: “I don’t remember, I was trying to do CPR and I was trying to save him.”

Ms Rees said: “Why didn’t you call for medical help?”

Cole said: “I came in, tried to do CPR, and tried to save him.”

Ms Rees said: “Why – you’ve been presented with a dead five-year-old child, a child who calls you dad – did you not call the police?”

Cole said: “I panicked, I walked into Logan dead and I wasn’t thinking clearly.”

Ms Rees said: “Why didn’t you call an ambulance?”

Cole said: “Fear….. It all happened so quickly, it was a shock.”

Ms Rees said: “You didn’t think to pick up the telephone and call medical help?”

Cole said: “I was doing CPR.”

Ms Rees said: “Did you know how he died? Was it obvious to you he had been assaulted?”

Cole said: “I wasn’t paying attention, I was doing CPR and trying to get him back. I was trying to save him.”

Ms Rees said: “Do you remember Angharad saying: 'We’ve got to get an ambulance'?”

Cole said: “No.”

Ms Rees said: “Nobody got an ambulance did they… Why not?”

Cole said: “My main instinct was to save him and I made some bad judgement calls, I wasn’t thinking clearly.”

'You and the others involved had applied extreme blunt force to this little boy and the account of waking up and doing CPR is all made up'
John Cole, who is in the witness box being cross-examined by prosecutor Caroline Rees QC, continues to explain his account of finding Logan dead.

Ms Rees said: “Why didn’t you ask: ‘What the hell has gone on here?' Didn’t you want to know how Logan died?”

Cole said: “I wasn’t thinking clearly.”

Ms Rees said: “You knew how he died. This story of CPR is all made up. You didn’t call an ambulance because you were one of the people who killed him….. You and the others involved had applied extreme blunt force to this little boy and the account of waking up and doing CPR is all made up. The last thing you wanted was the authorities seeing Logan’s body and that’s why it was important to get rid of the body.”

Cole said: “It wasn’t like that.”

Ms Rees said: “Was [the youth] there?” Cole said: “He was there in the background.”

Ms Rees said: “It was obvious there was a crisis in the flat and you Angharad would have been speaking loudly. Voices would have been heightened with emotion. There came to a point you discussed dumping Logan’s body where it couldn’t be found.”

Cole said: “We didn’t have a discussion.”

The court adjourns for a 15-minute break.

Cole said: “We both tried to put him in the corner, both tried to feed him, and both tried to wash him. We were working together.”

Just my opinion but I think the sentence "We were working together." may be truthful.

Ms Rees said: “You were quite rough with him that day…… It wasn’t a very good day for him.”

Cole said: “It was a rough day for all of us.”

Ms Rees said: “I’m not asking about you, I’m asking about Logan.”

BAM! Good answer Ms Rees, calling out the narcissist.

It's always tricky trying to accurately assess "tone of voice" from written text, but is anyone feeling like Ms Rees has got JC feeling rather prickly? She might yet push him into something incriminating.

Hope she asks him why, among all the injuries, there were none that would be expected to be seen after CPR.
A strong adult male giving CPR to a five-year-old child would break ribs, surely.
Maybe that's one reason she asked Cole to hold up his hand----showing how big and strong it was, and he was using it on a little 5 yr old.

If you were doing it properly perhaps but, I wonder if Cole was trained in CPR?

ETA - I don't think Cole did ever attempt CPR btw, just suggesting that I doubt he even knew how to do effective CPR - It's not as gentle as it looks on TV shows.
