Pregnant teacher, 35, pictured smiling with friends hours before she's found dead

Marelle Sturrock, 35, a pregnant teacher, was found dead at her home on Tuesday morning just hours after posting a photo of herself smiling with friends at a restaurant
Thanks for this, but it’s just the same wording that she was found dead at her home hours after posting a photo but if the photo was posted on Sunday it’s not hours before.

Yep, poorly worded.

It is possible that the attack happened later on the Sunday when she got home. But she wasn't found until Tuesday.
I agree I think they suspect she was died early on Sunday evening and hence the hours before wording.

Some papers these days are shocking and report nonsense and copy things without checking. So annoying.
IMO JMOO

Edited to change my wording murdered to died as we don’t know all of the facts at the moment!

It's very possible that friends, family and work colleagues knew about certain things going on and that's why police were called after just a day off from work. Police arrived at 0840 on Tuesday, the school would have waited until after 0900 to phone in case she was running late?

Yes. I think it’s strange though the school weren’t worried after 9am Monday and so wonder if she had the day booked off for medical appointments or something so we’re not expecting her. Then friends and family couldn’t reach her throughout Monday and Monday evening and then went around to their home.

Yep, so perhaps a combination of work and family not reaching her prompted the police response. Police will have carried out a welfare check and that was when Marelle was found.

I do not understand this at all and I hopefully never will. What state of mind do you have to be in to kill your pregnant fiancé??? And then the realization of what you’ve done hits, so you then kill yourself…..?! I don’t get it. Death is obviously so permanent and there had to be a better answer than this. So sorry for the families and communities affected.

Marelle Sturrock: Body found is fiancé of murdered pregnant teacher

The body of a man found by police investigating the murder of a pregnant teacher has been identified as her fiancé, David Yates.

[...]

Mr Yates' death is not considered suspicious.

[...]

An investigation remains ongoing, but no one else is believed to be involved in her death.

[...]

Officers said they would continue to provide specialist support to both families.

Scotland's police watchdog has been ordered to carry out an investigation into the death of Marelle Sturrock.

PIRC is a public body that was set up to independently investigate incidents involving the police, including complaints from the public.

It is not yet known why the watchdog is investigating Sturrock’s death.

Oh. Were they already known to police (previous calls / incidents?) or perhaps her friends or family had rung police pre Tuesday as they couldn’t contact her. Hmmm. More to come out.

I’m a deputy head in a small primary school and what I’m guessing happened is:
Marelle didn’t turn up to work on Monday
Calls were raise throughout day from the school - including from her closest friends at the school.
In the afternoon I guess a visit to the house occurred - no answer and no car there.
I guess at this point they raised concerns to police - police told them if she didn’t come in next morning to notify them - and then horrible discovery happened

Does anybody know, for example, if someone died & their parents found out about it online before the police informed them; would this be cause for a police watchdog referral if a complaint was made?

If information was leaked to the media before next of kin was informed then It would prompt an investigation.

If someone in the street posted something on Facebook for example then that is different.
