I feel like I am living in an alternative universe because BBC Radio 4 have just repeated again that police will have to charge or release Rosdeep by 11pm tonight. Implication being, an extension has not been granted yet?

Sounds like a 12 hour extension has been granted which suggests that she was detained at around 11pm last night. The initial 12 hours would have taken the detention period 11am today and a 12 hour extension will take it to 11pm tonight.

Maybe when the Police brought in specialist dogs to Mikaeels home, including cadaver...the dogs could have had a hit then....I would imagine if he passed away in the house they could tell....

A witness in Kirkcaldy , a neighbour across the road , saw RK at her Sisters house on either Tuesday or Earlr Wednesday.....Possibly the police had taken this statement from neighbours in the area of any immediate families homes, early on , as part of their enquiries ....so knowing she had been there led them to search the back gardens and woods with cadaver or scent dogs?

I know zilch about this, but a very good SAR professional has told me that a cadaver dog can pick up a death scent from a shoe that dropped from a live person and another that dropped from their foot when they died two minutes later.

Cadavar dogs scent death, I believe. Not individuals' scents, as these change chemically from the moment of death. Some scent dogs trained to find live people will not alert on someone who has died anyway - amongst other things, they can get upset.

So I am thinking....

Up until police found Mikaeel, they were still optimistic. So no cadaver dog alerted at the apartment or nearby.

They received a tip to look at the house across the water, and a cadaver dog alerted inside there, and then led them to the woods.

So I do think it may be likely Mikaeel died at the house. If that's the case, it's harder than ever for me to think this was any kind of accident though, to be honest.

OMG. It's not the BBC. It's my maths again. Blush. Sorry.

It's winter in this case though, remember Tia was in an insulated loft in the summer...

That's true but I don't think the temperature has been low enough to be particularly preserving. There may be more evidence available than there was in poor Tia's case, but let's hope it's enough to be conclusive. :please:

The other thing I was thinking (still keeping in mind innocent until proven guilty); first reports were absolutely full of how distraught Rosdeep was. So there is no way she would have been demanding a lawyer before she answered questions, right? That would have looked strange. So it seems as though police may have gained an awful lot of info about events, before Rosdeep hired a lawyer (presuming she did as soon as she was detained).

I wonder about the dogs too. Though if it's true this was 'more than just a disposal site' they perhaps picked up nothing in Edinburgh - hence the early 'no evidence of criminality' reports.

My gut feeling here is that this was death due to a long term neglect and a hasty cover up borne from fear. That being said I wouldn't be altogether surprised if the result was more along first degree murder lines. :(

Her FB page has been removed...

Would the police have asked her to do that / done it for her / demanded fb delete it?

My daughter is the same age as Mikaeel, so this case has made me sad.
I can't help it, but looking at the mom's facebook, she seems such a loving and caring mother. I don't (want to) believe she murdered her little boy, at least not by intention.
For me, it just doesn't add up here. Mikaeel had a twin- so if the motive was related to the other father - why was it only Mikaeel and not both? (Just to avoid false interpretations: Thank god we dont have 2 dead children, I am just referring to a possible motive!)
Also she had other children too - I don't get it why only Mikaeel was in foster care and not all of them?

What has happened?
Did he die because of his infection and the mom panicked?

I know I am only judging from FB-photos, but I do not believe that this mother contributed to the boy's death.

MOO - of course I could be wrong.

Rest in peace, Mikaeel.
Gone way too soon.

After following so many tragic cases, much like this, a pattern emerges. Often, only one child out of a group, is for some reason, targeted with abuse. And often, it is the child that most reminds one parent of their ex. So with the twins, the son would be the target, as he is a trigger for her anger at the ex.

One example would be Sky Montagwa [sp]---mother disposed of the little boy who was an exact replica of her ex. And she kept her daughter. :banghead:

I think it is because of the amount of abuse posted there

from what i picked up from her facebook , she came across like a self obsessed party girl , she doesn't come across like a mother at all , why he is not in any photos ? she even cut him out of her photos ...

I think he reminded her of her ex. And so she took it out on the poor sweet baby. jmo :moo:

Does anyone know - are parents (who had problems) sometimes allowed to retain custody of their children only on condition they live with a responsible family member for a certain period of time? Or would that never happen?

Tbh social services can place any restriction/condition they like. It could include what you are saying

BBC reported earlier that an update is expected between 11pm and midnight tonight

I have so many questions. Did Mikaeel die in his coat and shoes and gloves? Or did RK devise the missing plan and hide those items? We're they found? We're they with Mikaeel? Is that what RK was doing there on tues/wed (witnessed by neighbour) Was Mikaeels body already hidden in the woodland and she went back to hide those items there too? Before she 'reported him missing' Most of all what happened to him? "No signs of criminality" at the flat, did he die/was he killed elsewhere, at aunties? ...so many questions

I think that those are questions which many of us have. Unfortunately I think they are questions which we will have to wait a long time for answers; if indeed we get any at all.

I've looked at so main MSM articles over the past couple of days that I've lost track. Am I right in thinking mom was detained prior to the body being found. Iirc mom was detained between 11pm and midnight yet mikaeel wasn't found until 1am ish

I thought his body was found shortly before midnight?
