Another poster pointed out up-thread about mobile beauty cases being like suitcases.

Does anyone know what they're like inside? Are there small compartments built-in or is just like a suitcase and you add your own compartments if you so wish?

Wow at the Instgram still being up.

That confused me too, but then I read the other day that the nursery slot was on Wednesday morning, which would fit with her being able to then go to Fife that morning ( or Tuesday morning, as neighbour could not be sure re Tues or Wed )

The appeal for info from Mon to Wed also says to me that they have definite proof up to the Sunday - that flipagram ( the friends daughter waving her arms around while Mikaeel is eating next to her ) is dated January 12.
I know the date is the date of upload and not date of pic, but could be in this instance they are the same, and the restaurant staff or other diners may have been able to provide definite proof that Mikaeel and family were there on Jan 12.

I didn't know about this fliapgram from 12th. That would explain a lot about why the police are asking for sightings since then. Whereabouts were they, do we know?
I find it quite surprising that there is nothing on twitter or other s.m (that I have seen, anyway) along the lines of "I saw them on xxth Jan". Why so silent?

Ooh. Im back after spending the last two days catching up on another case I was following. I'll have to have a search regarding the boyfriend as I've not seen anything

Folks I've just removed a whole bunch of posts. There is no mention in media of anyone else being charged therefore it's classed as rumour. We don't discuss rumours on WS.

Please discuss only what has been reported in media or by police.

Does anybody know when the funeral will take place?

I've not heard a thing about that. I honestly don't know how they are going to hold that little boys funeral without it turning into a media scrum & without 100's of the general public turning up to attend as well.

Does anybody know when the funeral will take place?

No mention of it anywhere so far, I shouldn't think it'll be for a good while yet, they haven't even given info on the results of the PM.

Joanna Yeates' funeral was held around two months after she was found on Christmas Day.

I keeping wondering how Mikaeel's foster parents must be feeling, apparently they 'loved him like he was one of their own'.

I think she's had time to think about it, whether hours or days. Her kids are only young and if she said "Mikaeel's at grandmas cos he's poorly" why would they not believe that.

Because kids aren't stupid, really. It's possible mine are just super-close, but they will NOT go more than 24 hours talking to each other. We've had days were A would go to their grandparents for the night, and we'd swap A for B and B would spend the next night. If the kids didn't see each other for at least an hour during the switch, B wouldn't go.

If mum told them he was at grandma's and then said he was missing, the kids would certainly question and mention it. The lie would have bought her a few hours, but bit her in the *advertiser censored* immediately afterwards.

I do think the simplest explanation is the likeliest here. Rosdeep was at the end of her rope, not coping but afraid to admit it. There was a perfect storm of stressors- Christmas, ill (and sounds quite clingy) kid, court case, the possibility of a Child Services investigation if the neighbour's story about leaving them Sunday night is true- and it was just too much. Instead of walking away, she lashed out and Mikaeel paid the price. Then she covered it up, because she valued her own freedom/denial/for the other kids' sake/whatever more than she valued Mikaeel. :( Given the fact that she only lost custody of some of her kids, I would be surprised to find the evidence of long term physical abuse that was apparent in (for example) the Baby P case. Not impossible, of course, but this reads more like abuse that escalated to me.

Also, am I the only one kind of horrified that the foster parents have been named and a quote from a friend given? While I am sure they are devastated, I don't know a foster family (who are admittedly North American) who hasn't had "don't give identifying information to anyone" beaten into their head.

I wonder if she was going to try and implicate Mikaeel's father? She quite possibly could have got away with telling her relatives that his dad had taken him abroad given the significance that a male child may have been to him.

Pyjama top, jogging bottoms, coat & shoes is suggestive of running short of time when you've got to take other kids somewhere & have to take a pre-schooler with you. I wonder if he was wearing the coat when he was found?

With regards to the foster parents, no it's not just you. I'm astounded that they felt it was right to make any comment at all. I'm less surprised by the friend making some kind of statement. I think it's common for friends, neighbours & acquaintances to make comments ( usually with the proviso that they are not named in the news story)

I am a little bit leery of their comment that they 'loved Mikaeel like their own child'. It could be true but I think it's also possible that there's an element of attention seeking going on, since they had to have been the ones who went to the press with their story in the first place as it wouldn't have been a matter of public record & Mikaeel's twin sisters temporary foster parents haven't been quoted at all.

I would have thought that temporary foster parents have to retain an element of professional distance whilst still giving nurturing care, from the children they care for on short term basis' since they aren't actually their own children, they are only temporary carers & getting too close might damage an already emotionally vulnerable child even further when they were taken back & upset the career as well when a child they 'loved like their own' was removed.

I could be wrong about that though as I (thankfully) have no knowledge of foster care or foster parents.

I'm not trying to slate foster parents here as I think they do fantastic work

I think about 18months. think the friend of the foster carer may be the same person who came onto another forum I use. As it's a UK - based parenting forum, a lot of people were concerned about her mentioning the foster carer(not by name) as it has not been in the MSM & her posts were deleted.

Actually, you are wrong as it has been in the MSM - Ziggy Ford. I've been to her facebook page, looks like a great lady.

Mikaeel does appear to have a slight eye socket anomaly where his eye opening does not match the size of the eye socket. I have seen this in cases of hydrocephalus, or anything that causes the skull to expand. Operations for such problems may well explain the appearance of a scar on the neck that people have commented on in this thread. It would also explain why the twins were fostered seperately, as there are specially trained foster carers who specialise in children with medical needs.

Thanks so much for this insightful post Inge, I had been picking through those photos with a fine toothed comb; I knew something looked wrong, but could never have had the medical knowledge to come to your conclusion. I think it's a great observation.

I have a friend who is a mobile hairdresser and she just uses a small week end style suitcase, easy to pull around.....I know its not exactly the same stuff needed for beauty treatments, but it is possible RK just had a regular suitcase on wheels and filled it with boxes of products

Thank you .... you have put that into perspective for me. When Mikaeel was first reported missing I found it odd ( apart from having to be asked to believe that such a small, slight child could push open those security doors ) to think of him putting on jogging bottoms over his pyjama bottoms before he ventured forth for his night time wander !

But your post makes sense of it all, a child who isn't well, pulled out of bed and quickly has jogging bottoms put on over his pj's so he can be taken on the school run and then put back into bed.

So (roughly) he's been in care for half of his entire life.

Yes, if the newspaper quotes are correct, from about March 2012 to Sept 2013 - so from just before his second birthday to about 3 and half years of age.

Wonder if this might have contributed to him always wanting to be with his mother and not leaving her side.........

Some info from wikipedia on sunken eyes, because I believe Mikaeel had very sunken eyes in some of his pictures.

Enophthalmos is the posterior displacement of the eyeball within the orbit due to changes in the volume of the orbit (bone) relative to its contents (the eyeball and orbital fat), or loss of function of the orbitalis muscle.
It may be a congenital anomaly, or be acquired as a result of trauma (such as in a blowout fracture of the orbit), Horner's syndrome (apparent enophthalmos due to ptosis), Marfan Syndrome, silent sinus syndrome, or phthisis bulbi.
