I've been reading this thread and just wanted to register to comment on the dog lead/harnass.

When my partner and I take out dogs for walks and we want to let them off lead, it is much easier take off the full harnass off the dog than it is to unclip the lead from the harness. Especially if it's cold and your hands are less nimble, or if you're wearing gloves, or if you're only using 1 hand (i.e. holding a phone in the other).

The clips on the harnass are big plastic clips that are easy to release, as opposed to what is a much smaller (usually metal) clip on between the lead and harnass.

Just worth a thought.
I'm just confused because the harness was found separately, supposedly, but I also thought it was stated that the person who initially found Willow tied her to the bench (presumably with Willow's lead). Was this lead already secured to the bench and she tied Willow to it? Was it attached to the harness and she took it off but left the harness? I really don't get this part and would like clarification of where Willow was found/where the lead was initially found.

I don’t understand this either.

In case missed, the DM Online has filmed a walk through of her last steps from the car-park to the bench. Two things I though:-
1. not sure what time it was filmed, or if they cleared the area/kept people out of shot, but it is incredibly isolated - so can see now why not many witnesses in the area
2. behind the bench is a sign that dogs must be kept on leads at all times - I am not sure which side of the gate that is for, but if the bench side, then could be a reason for her to jump up and try to put his lead on in a rush if saw someone in the distance or if the dog was trying to get into the water to swim, then possible stumble/trip and fall in

The new police update states where willow was found at what time. 09.35 at the bench

Lancashire Constabulary - Search continues for Nicola Bulley as potential new witness is sought

Just some more thoughts of purely my own.

I wonder if willow was one of those dogs that ran ahead then ran back to owner over and over again on a walk?
Perhaps willow ran ahead facing away from NB and something happened in the window she was facing away. Then when willow couldn’t see NB anymore, she ran back to the place she Last saw her owner. Which was the bench area

Another thought if she has gone in the water non-deliberately. A seizure?

After seeing the footage from the other bank facing across water towards the bench I didn’t realise quite how high/steep that was to be honest. This is on the news footage with the diver climbing out. It looks really slippery to me.

Obviously JMO but the last sighting was in the field and the dog was dry when found by the river. I really would have thought dog would have gone in after her however she ended up in there. Pics on her FB show the dog in the water happily and confidently playing so it was familiar with this area. So I wonder if something happened to her before even getting to this spot. I just have a horrible feeling. Hoping for some news soon.

is there anything we can do other than speculating on here ? im absolutely heartbroken with this case every minute of the day

There seems such little information to do little else. I’m just keeping an eye on anything new that might come out and keeping the family and friends in my thoughts

JMO
I just don't believe she drowned in the river. The last sighting of NB was at 9:10 (approx, could potentially be later). Her phone and Willow were found at a bench 25 minutes later. Presuming this was another walker that found the phone/Willow, what direction were they coming from? If walking up to the gate with the bench on the left, it's plausible they wouldn't have seen NB/Willow by the river.. but walking from the other direction with the bench on the right, they would have had direct sight of the bench for a good few minutes before they approached the bench. All speculation, if that was me I would have scaled the area looking for the owner of the dog, especially next to a river. I don't believe NB would have slipped and travelled so far down the river within 20 minutes and not be seen.

This just doesn't make sense at all. I do not want to draw relevance on this case to that of Sarah Everard, but the police knew the day after what happened to her, they were waiting until they had full evidence to go in and charge.

I remain hopeful this isn't the case.

If someone took NB after the 2nd 9:10am witness saw her in the field, then it would be very hard for that abductor to then place the phone and lead at the bench and get away with NB unseen by anyone. My opinion.

I just don’t know what to think.
