The NCA will more likely get involved or their resources be used if a missing person case shows suggestions of foul play (but not direct evidence of, such as a witness seeing the missing person being bundled into car, for example) EG an item of clothing found discarded nearby, phone found 30 feet away, a blood stain belonging to missing person etc etc

NCA have a lot of expertise in other areas. Outside of GCHQ they're the best for digital forensics in the country for example.

We can confirm a dispersal order was issued around 8.40pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 8) in St Michael’s on Wyre.

This followed reports of individuals – from outside the area of St Michael’s - filming on social media close to properties.

The order will remain in place for 48 hours and gives officers the power to disperse anyone committing anti-social behaviour.

Two dispersal notices were issued, and a number of other people were warned about their behaviour.

We hope that will give people some reassurance that we will not tolerate criminality, including trespass and criminal damage.

We are also aware of a number of grossly offensive comments being made on social media and elsewhere. We are looking into these and will not hesitate to take action where appropriate.

Our investigation to the disappearance of Nicola Bulley is continuing and we continue to search areas of the River Wyre and surrounding area.
People may have seen less police activity today than previously in the area of the river above the weir but that is not because we have stepped down our searches, it is because the focus of the search has moved further downstream into the area of the river which becomes tidal and then out towards the sea.



Anyone with information which could assist our investigation should call us on 101 quoting log 0565 of January 30th. For immediate sightings please call 999.

The expert opinion seems to be that after this amount of time a corpse would naturally float to the surface.

IMO if this didn't happen then would one presume it is not there or could you consider the possibility that it was caught under something?

In either of these scenarios the sonar search IMO seems to be fairly pointless. The general idea being that the sonar "sees everything".

Perhaps this is why the sonar man has been discontinued.

Thank you for your clean-up work, moderators. This case becomes more baffling each day to me. I still have a hard job believing why/how a young woman so familiar with that river walk would somehow have ended up in the water, but I can also see that the police still haven't made this a criminal investigation and have clearly got strong reasons, which we aren't privy to, to believe that she somehow is in the water. IMO she never went near the edge of that river but the other possibilities seem also hard to believe. I don't think kidnapping, but abduction and/or assault of some sort is a different thing entirely and I know from experience that this can happen in a matter of minutes. I think that NB is very pretty, is very visible on various social media pages, her walk is very traceable and her job brings her into contact with a lot of people.MOO.

Maybe I missed something but it struck me that the biggest proponent of PF's expertise seems to be PF himself (who kept changing his mind). No one is infallible.

Yes I posted a couple days ago, the police should of carried out a reconstruction, with a weighted mannequin, made allowances for anomalies, then carry out calculations, this is so easy to do. They have computer models that do this sort of stuff.

yes it's tidal from the weir and how many low tides have there been since she disappeared?
I've heard that the tide can really pull heavy items out of that estuary. ( Weirs not far from the bench, 100 yards or so)

I don't think the tidal effect is strong as far up as St Michaels, regarding the weir of much more interest is the amount of water coming down the river from the catchment area on that day. The river bank is quite steep and the depth will change quite rapidly in response to the volume of water coming downstream. I also suspect the monitoring gauges are not necessarily showing the depth at the deepest part of the river, I imagine they are set to 0 from some "scientifically useful point". As for the tidal effect as you move downstream .....

I'm relying on the fact the LP have consulted the relevant local experienced experts on whether it's possible/likely a body of "whatever buoyancy" might have been able to get over the weir/travel down the river that day/X days later. I'll take their view over WS's "I thinks" and PF.

Hello again everyone. Now I'll admit I am on Social Media A LOT but I think the social media interest in this case is now hindering it. I hasten to add I am NOT talking about this forum where conversation is sensible, factual and formulated well. I am talking about Medium's on TikTok, various Facebook groups etc. Some of the Facebook groups are sensible but for every sensible one there will be ten groups behind that are utterly dreadful. I am getting to the stage where I'm almost wondering whether an utter news blackout on this case would be a good move to stop all this utter madness. I do appreciate that many folk won't agree with me on this but in my mind this coverage is going down a deep dark hole.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed> what I mean is NB may have left the bench by being tricked / threatened - perhaps under duress got to the bridge exit at say 9.25 and bundled into the red tatty van that had moved from hall lane in the meantime. JMO. Speculation.

Should add that NB probably travels down Hall Lane to get to the school so perhaps (if red van occupant is involved) he had seen her before. JMO.

In my opinion it would have to be under duress as she wouldn’t leave the phone/dog.

The Sonar expert monitored a log and gave a description of the logs movement, he doesn't believe it's possible for her to have reached the sea.

I'd be interested to find that, and the log's equivalence to a human body. Have you got a link? or a few more keywords that he said that might help me google it, so I don't have to wade through all of his media appearances ?
