What a Closing Speech!

I'm so emotional.
The tears are coming freely now :(

My heart is with the Families.
And the precious Babies.

I was also a tiny NICU girl fighting for my life.

Although I live in a foreign land I feel close to you.

"So close, no matter how far"!

Put together like this, it all seems so much worse now, if that's possible. :(

Just when you think it can’t get any worse it just does.
Hearing it condensed was beyond harrowing. I’m just sitting here after catching up thinking “ why ? “
I don’t think we will ever know if convicted.
MOO

NJ is knocking it out the park with this closing! Incredible IMO. Favourite quote from today is ‘how will the defence get her out of this creek’ which is the question on my lips right now!
I think he will connect all the dots for the jury with this. He knows this case well, and you can tell how much work he’s put into it and how passionate he is about getting justice for these babies. Even though we only read the reporting, his words reflect his determination and his emotion IMO. I only hope the reporters don’t decide to give the defense closing a miss and we get to hear what BM has to say….
I want to know where all the other reporters went since cross-exam. It was such a great mix when we had Standard, Sky and Judith Moritz of the BBC.

Standard has done a fantastic job today, no criticism of them from me, but there's only so much one man can write and there's probably more that didn't make it to 'press'.

Was @CS2C there today does anyone know?. The way the summing up came across and reactions of the courtroom might be useful IMHO.

Mr Johnson references the nursing notes found in Ms Letby's home. Some of which releated to this child. He says Ms Letby has said 'it came home with me'...he dismisses this 'Like a dog following behind, these are inanimate objects'
Aw man, he could have dropped pied Piper in there...

Whew, what a day! Even though we've heard nearly all of it before, this tragic story can still move us to tears, anger, shock, you name it. It is all just so awful.
I'm surprised at the stuff we don't seem to have heard, tbh. The thing about doubling the insulin dose on the second alleged attempt was very significant for me. I can't believe that that wasn't reported but maybe I've just missed it. That definitely lends weight to the attempted murder charges, imo.

We discussed the nature of how and specifically when the bags would have been poisoned. I think it may have been suggested that the bags could have been tampered with at any point over a rather long time. The evidence that was mentioned about the time being able to be determined by taking into account the half-life of insulin is also something not previously reported, I don't think. That is really specific and potentially very damaging as it hugely reduces the number of people who could have done it. I mean, it's not the case that it was done a week previously or anything!

We did get to hear that the dose was increased for baby L in the opening speech. Evidence during the trial was really hard to follow for baby L.

opening speech -
"She had failed to kill Child F and so she increased the dose," the prosecutor tells the jury.
"She saw the opportunity to complete what she had attempted with Child F."
Independent experts say this was a case of "insulin poisoning" and was administered intravenously via Child L's liquid feed, jurors are told.
"The level of insulin was greater than the range the machine could measure," Mr Johnson says.
