Unreal…Juror absences were 27.5 days of that 80.
I would rather see a retrial than a hung jury and the prosecution decide it’s not in the public interest to have another trial. That would be catastrophicMaybe such complex cases should be bench trials with a panel of experienced Judges?
(Where I live usually 3 Judges).
Retrial would be a disaster IMO.
For the families, hospital staff witnesses and the defendant (still kept in jail).
In case of retrial, I'm done

Does it mean with the same barristers and a Judge? There is no way they wouldn’t go for a retrial.
MOO

A retrial would involve a completely fresh jury, would it not? Or am I making that up lol?How does a retrial work, are jurors just told to magically forget everything they might have read during the first trial? Is that even possible? Surely they’d be at least unconsciously influenced already?
Yes, fresh jury, but pretty much everyone in the country will have at least read some of the media during this trial.A retrial would involve a completely fresh jury, would it not? Or am I making that up lol?
When did he say that?Maybe this is what he meant when he said the deliberations were reaching a "critical point" when there was that juror absence recently?
I think that's reading too much in to it.Could explain what the judge meant by being frustrating for the juror in question.
whenever the last time there was a juror absent. Monday I think? When did he say that?
I don't recall it.
Some of you might get summons from the Court to be a Juror! How does a retrial work, are jurors just told to magically forget everything they might have read during the first trial? Is that even possible? Surely they’d be at least unconsciously influenced already?
