Nathan Matthews agrees that he and Shauna Hoare were planning a long and happy life together. Says they loved and trusted one another.

And put them up the loft himself

Exactly!

And this supports the prior testimony of the witness who testified that according to what JI( ?) had told him, the woman who was in the home at that time was Wide Awake and not sleeping

Prosecution says it is "ridiculous" to suggest that Shauna Hoare had no idea what was going on. Nathan Matthews disagrees.

Yes, they were bound together, did everything together and had a symbiotic relationship

'She [Hoare] had no idea of my plan, or of what happened, or of anything else' Matthews tells the court #beckywatts

all in the space of those 2 hours that he had at CML on the Friday ( when SH was at Becky's home )

Though he'd have had to get them back out as well as he hadnt bought all the clingfilm, bags and tape used to wrap them at that point.

[h=3]'I had to lie to everbody'[/h]Prosecutor William Mousley QC has started cross-examining Matthews about his evidence.
He accused Matthews of “peddling lies” to Becky’s dad Darren Galsworthy and his own mother Anjie for days on end after the teenager’s death.

Matthews said: “I had no choice, I couldn’t tell them.”
The jury heard Matthews was at Becky’s family home when a police constable came round after dad Darren phoned cops to say she was missing.
Matthews was also present when Becky’s boyfriend Luke Oberhansil,17, came round to find her - unaware she was lying a few feet away in the boot of his car.
Matthews said: “I had to lie to everybody, I couldn’t tell anybody.”
Mr Mousley said “When you were arrested you lied for as long as you could then.”
Matthews replied: “Yes.”

Why does he say "obviously" so often? And it's mainly used out of context. I wonder if there is a condition that causes this - such as when he is nervous and/or lying.

I wish someone would call him out on this, especially when he says something like this.

"Obviously she got down to her knees and I got the handcuffs and obviously put the hand cuffs on her.

"When she was on her knees I obviously told her to keep her eyes shut.

Why isn't he asked "what do you mean by obviously you put the handcuffs on her?" what is obvious about that? That's not a normal thing to do.

Obviously he is a murdering liar who is trying to minimize his involvement and wants us to believe that his gf who was around the whole time, knew nothing, nothing at all. That much is obvious.

if he says it only when he's inventing stories it will be easy to spot. have to have a good look from now on. the jury will notice that though.

Matthews: "I would laugh and joke at immature things like she would. I don't feel any different from when I was 17 or 18."

Though he'd have had to get them back out as well as he hadnt bought all the clingfilm, bags and tape used to wrap them at that point.

In the middle of the night no doubt, when SH was soundly sleeping

It seems to be a word a lot of people use excessively these days. Similar to the use of 'literally'.

NM: Shauna wouldn't view *advertiser censored*, she wasn't interested in *advertiser censored*
#beckywatts

Claire Hayhurst ‏@clairehayhurst · 35 secs35 seconds ago
Matthews: "a couple of times" Hoare would call him out for looking/talking about teenage girls. "As far as I know she never looked at *advertiser censored*."

actually that could be a tell tale sign its when he's lying. it's like the obvious part isn't obvious at all so he says it to make it sound more convincing.

Shauna says "obviously" quite a bit in her interviews too. I noticed when I was watching the videos.

[h=3]'It's not ridiculous idea to say Shauna not involved'[/h]Matthews said: “I could have carried on lying, I could have easily have explained anything.
“I broke down in front of the solicitor. I basically admitted it in not so many words. He saw that I was struggling.”
Mr Mousley said: “You tried to save Shauna.”
Matthews: “No Shauna had nothing to do with it.”
Matthews broke down in tears again and put his head on the table.
Mr Mousley: “You and Shauna were very close.”
Matthews: “Yes.”
Mr Mousley: “You had been together for seven years and been through a lot.”
Matthews: “Yes”.
Mr Mousley: “You were looking forward to a long and happy future together.”
Matthews: “Obviously we had our issues yes.”
Mr Mousley: “Did you love her.”
Matthews: “Yes.”
Mr Mousley: “Do you think she loved you.”
Matthews: “Yes”.
Mr Mousley: “You had never lied to Shauna had you.”
Matthews: “Before this, no.”
Mr Mousley: “If something awful had happened to you what would you have wanted for Shauna.”
Matthews: “To be happy to move on.”
Mr Mousley: “Is the reason you said Shauna had nothing to do with this - to allow her to be happy and carry on.
Matthews: “No”.
Mr Mousley: Do you agree it sounds ridiculous that Shauna had no idea what was going on.”
Matthews: “I wouldn’t say ridiculous no.
“I can understand suspicion of things but what happened happened.”
