Digging in gardens, 3 homes forensically searched, returning to search Becky's house again.. A seized car at one of the properties that police are appealing for previous owners. Things have taken a big turn from woodland, park and lake searches.

Yes...and would they normally mention gender in their speculation I wonder?

It's interesting wording isn't it..... they could have just said, no details have been released ....by adding the * gender * bit, could it be a hint or could it be a journo trying to give nothing away, but letting slip what is in their mind ?

I read it as the police usually release two pieces of info, age and gender, and this time they didn't release either.

Yes...you've explained my jumbled suspicions nicely thank you! Many alternative words could have been used "Police have not released any information at all regarding those under arrest" or "Police have not released any information regarding those arrested." Hmmm

Just caught the BBC lunchtime news, again focusing on finding where the zafira was after the 19th. Showed a big picture of the forensic tent in Cotton Mill Road which takes up almost half the garden.

Very interesting point made above about gender... Definitely worth pondering!

Although police do not usually name suspects who are arrested (the press usually leak it) police do normally say they have arrested "male/female suspect(s) aged xx years". If the suspects are minors could this account for them saying nothing at all? Might also account for no press leakage. Just a thought.

I think this is it. I think they could be minors. Or a minor that had the help of an adult.

Big blue tent has been erected over half the back garden. It would suggest they don't want anyone to see what they have found.

They may not have found anything yet. The police use those tents like portable offices. They give privacy and shelter and somwhere to work. If a house is a possible crime scene, they want as few people in there as possible

Well I just hate the thought of her being hurt. This is so upsetting now. :(

Becky Watts disappearance: What we know

Police are intensifying efforts to find missing teenager Becky Watts.

Here is what we know about the 16-year-old's disappearance.

February 18: Becky stays overnight at a friend's house

February 19: She returns to her home in Crown Hill, St George, Bristol, at around 11.15 am before leaving with her phone, laptop and tablet. She did not tell friends or family where she was going, or take extra clothing

February 20: The teenager is reported missing by her family at 4pm

February 23: Her father Darren Galsworthy and grandmother Pat Watts appeal for her to come home

February 24: Police appeal to local communities to help find Becky

February 26: Detectives say there is "nothing to suggest" the missing 16-year-old has come to harm despite fears from her father that she may have been attacked

February 27: Police carry out specialist open water searches at a pond in St George's Park, which they say is a "routine" part of the investigation and not based on specific intelligence

February 28: Two people are arrested in connection with Becky's disappearance - the 16-year-old's family say they are "preparing for the worst"

March 1: Police search three properties including Becky's home as her uncle tells ITV News that his family is "almost at breaking point"

March 2: Police are given a further 36 hours to question the two people arrested

Police also appeal for witnesses who saw a black Vauxhall Zafira - registration HY06 HYA - between the "critical time period" of Thursday February 19 and Monday February 23

Also it must keep the weather out of the area...wind and rain etc.

"between the "critical time period" of Thursday February 19 and Monday February 23"

The critical time period ends last Monday, where has that info come from? Is that the day the car was first spotted on Wilton Close?

ETA: That cant be right though

Car "parked on street for more than a week" Linky
Residents said the black car had been parked on the street for more than a week, but did not belong to any locals. So why last Monday?

That yard looks completed fenced in. That would make it hard for anyone other than the occupants to bury anything back there.

I was thinking that the opposite situation could be a reason why they've spent so much time doing forensic work at the family home - it seems to back onto allotments which could make it a lot easier for non-family to get access to the garden and even house. There has to be some reason why they're spending so much time focusing on it.

Just caught up here after watching the news today. Anyone else thinking it could be a young female close to Becky one of the people arrested? Don't know why I think this and I'm probably wrong but just weird feeling right from reading the first thread.

Is there an error here? I thought she arrived back home from friends at around 8.30 and LEFT at around 11.15?

Also, I've seen some posts saying phone laptop AND tablet and lots saying just phone and laptop?

Indeed, at the start everyone was very focused on the family, but now as it becomes less likely that they were involved we could be seeing something similar to the Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier case in the US.
