It tends to happen that way, the prosecution's opening statement basically covers all the material they're going to aduce, in overview (unless something else suddenly comes up). The next phase will mainly be elaboration on what we heard toady.

They already had a young child. I think this is saying a second child was on the way. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I also recall that she was taken to hospital shortly after being arrested.

RBBM

So there is no child captured on video in the back seat when they left to return home? I don't read it that way. Both: she was pregnant at time of the murder & a child was in the back seat when they left Becky's home that evening with her in the trunk:

CCTV footage showed Matthews and Hoare driving home to Cotton Mill Lane with a child sitting in the rear of the car. They arrived home shortly after 6.40pm. “Becky’s dead body was in the boot,” Mousley said.

It was alleged Matthews and Hoare, who was pregnant at the time, eventually drove back to their home in Cotton Mill Lane, Bristol, around 7pm with Becky’s body in the boot and a child in the back seat.

Mr Mousley said CCTV footage showed Matthews and Hoare driving to their home shortly before 7pm, with a child captured on camera sitting in a back seat.

On the day Watts went missing, surveillance video showed the couple driving with a child in the backseat.

That quote was somewhat taken out of context.

I was replying to someone questioning my comment that SH was pregnant at the time of the murder. The quote above was saying that the couple already had a child who was in the backseat of the car but SH was pregnant with a second child on the way. So yes....their daughter was seen on CCTV in the backseat of the vehicle on the ride home and SH was pregnant.

Sorry to nit pick but it wouldn't be "incestuous" They weren't blood relations.

It's unbelievable to think that so much has been revealed today and yet it's just day one of what could be 5+ weeks!

You're right, technically. I just meant in the family-relationship sense, (which, it appears, was somewhat lacking...so the term was used loosely in more ways than one).

Interesting theory and not beyond bounds of possibility given what we've heard today. Have you got a link to the info about the nature of the video found on SH/NM's phone?

These were the only two links I read today, so it's in one of these (and I'm guessing it's the first):

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/becky-watts-murder-trial-live-6585167

ETA: It is in the first one (Guardian link):

Mousley said examination of computers and other devices belonging to the couple suggested both were interested in teenage girls, petite young women and the idea of kidnapping. On one phone, said Mousley, was a “telling” video showing the rape of a teenager in which the attacker puts his hand over the victim’s mouth.

ETA: Just after that paragraph is also the telling sentence:

One of Becky’s friends told police that the [sic] Becky had once said Matthews had threatened to kill her and given “graphic” descriptions of what he would do to her.

Such a threat might be something intended to keep her from speaking about previous or ongoing abuse.

I thought I was misreading that a child was seen in the backseat of the vehicle when they left Becky's home. IF child was in the home at the time of the crime, it is outrageous. Just being in the back seat of the vehicle and in the home where Becky was kept for a few days...They are as cold as ice.

Day Two begins .......

Gosh I've had some problems getting on today...

So prosecution have called their first witness..Wonder who that is?

I'm getting the impression that SH is more cold and calculated than we first thought

Have also had probs getting in today, but think in my case the probs are my connection at this end

Am guessing the first witness is a minor and would be the friend that Becky stayed with on the Wednesday night, Feb 18.

Sorry it took me so long to post , that you have already come up with the answer Sar !

also I cant edit at the moment, so have to make a new post on here

Yes they've stated that it was the minor who Becky stayed the night with.. Minor got worried when she stopped responding to calls and texts

@ITVWCBeckyTrial: A neighbour has described SH to court as "very withdrawn, very shy" and said she would not reply when spoken to #beckywatts

Strange - but perhaps its just me - when Luke ( boyfriend ) called round on the Thursday afternoon to see if Becky was home.... SH said she didnt know and then asked AG who also didnt know. They had to check her room.

As I say, perhaps just me, but I would tend to know if someone else was in my home, without having to check their room.

Mirror link as above

LO provided a written statement to court. After not being able to contact Becky he went around to their home. SH answered door and said she didn't think Becky was in. SH and AG checked Beckys room and said they would let her know he'd stopped by. LO only saw SH, AG and child in the house (late afternoon)

Neighbour reported hearing loud banging, running up and down stairs and raised voices. She heard NM shout one word but couldn't make out what it was.

Kinda think that maybe LO was lucky visiting when he did. If it had of been earlier who knows what could have happened to him
