His family could have been mistaken about the long-sleeved top with a half zip. Or he could have had the long-sleeve top layered on to begin with and taken it off because he got too warm. I've stashed a layer of running clothes in a shrub or something on an out-and-back route, figuring I'd pick it up on my way back.

Realistically, I think the most likely scenario is a medical emergency or accident, and that remains may be very well concealed in thick vegetation or undergrowth. This is absolutely heartbreaking, needless to say, and I continue to hope he will turn up safe and well. We've seen lots of times though a person's remains be incredibly well hidden and missed even when the area is searched (Chandra Levy?). Perhaps when the leaves and bushes due back with Autumn, something may be found? Thinking of this poor man and his family :(

I think you might be right. Until he is found I'm going to imagine that he just decided to do a Forrest Gump and just kept on running. Moo.

"Police, who are not treating the death as suspicious, had previously spent days combing the dense woodland for any sign of the married father of three."
As always, I would be interested in learning how this body (likely Richard) was missed earlier and just found now. (no shade towards LE and searchers, for future searches it helps to know where these people actually end up and how they can be so well-hidden)

Can only assume the search planners were just unfortunate and after months of lockdown with general public not roaming the countryside in the numbers they might normally do, it just took longer for him to be spotted. Very sad. Some peace for his family though.
