I know this is similar to another tweet, but I think it is a very good point...

Sadie Hartley judge tells murderers Sarah Williams and Katrina Walsh: "You are both morally degenerate, you have so much in common

Judge described murder as 'clinical assassination' and said Sadie was slaughtered like an animal

Oh I had hoped for more

Williams jailed for life with minimum term of 30 years

well, I thought SW should get at least 40, if not forever.

No reaction at all from Williams to that sentence

So SW will be 65 when eligible to ask for parole. I hope it is refused.

KW will be 80, so I expect her to end her days in prison - I somehow dont think she will cope very well.

Agreed, I don't think KW will see the outside again now.

Media awaits reaction to jailing of Sadie Hartley's murderers

Williams just walked straight out of the dock but a bewildered looking Walsh paused before hobbling away on crutches

Judge summed it up as 'crime of obsession, arrogance and barbarity. Overall it was a crime of pure evil'

Sky News have just done a report - their reporter Becky Johnston is there - and they are expecting Sadie's family - her son and daughter - to make statements shortly outside the court and also the police will make a statement.

Those sentences were in line with what I was expecting, just because this is the UK. Relieved Kit's was close to SW's and was hoping she would get to 65. On a personal, moral level she doesn't deserve to get out at all but what's the purpose of non-death penalty punishment if there's not any opportunity for any kind of redemption. They will both get a relatively easy time in a UK prison and never have to feel the pain that Sadie's family feel.

Expected to hear some kind of attempt at mitigation though, if only from Kit's lawyer. Is that because Kit doesn't want to admit anything at all and she's planning to appeal?

I'm presuming they will go to separate prisons? Is that normal for co-defendants in a crime?

I'm wondering whether SW wormed her way into Hardwick's will? (Will doubtless have crossed her mind due to his age, her greed and their financial relationship.)

I wish there was a way that SW could be stripped of her financial assets in order to pay compensation.

Judge comparing Sadie Hartley with her murderers: The contrast between her life affirming generosity of spirit and your vile, destructive, resentful and self-regarding hypocrisy could hardly be starker."

What will happen to SW's assets now (and any that KW has) if there is no partner or children? Would it go to her next of kin (parents / siblings etc) or does it get kept until her release date? What would happen if someone received a life sentence but refused to allow the sale of property for example?
