Both defense lawyers and jurors were mentioned in the OP so I wasn't sure who "they" were.

Anyway, I hope jurors selected because they don't watch the news are not unintelligent. Jurors play a role in deciding the fate of a guilty or innocent person and ensuring justice is served for the victim.

I can see how both the prosecution and the defense might not want jurors who follow crime regularly, but I would think it's more important to select a jury that can set aside opinions or biases and concentrate on the evidence presented to them.

I am a politics lecturer and I don't have a television. There are various ways a person can inform themselves on what is going on in the world and how things work without TV or TV news.

As for bias, certain news channels present a concertedly biased or politicized view, and often just skim the surface of the issue. Depending on the circumstances, jurors relying on TV news might if anything be more prone to bias rather than less. Just my opinion.

That's not true, btw. All 'Verified' means is that those posters don't need to link citations for the facts they give (regarding relevant cases). When new verified users are announced, it is always with the caveat that we are allowed to disregard their opinions just as we do anyone else's.

You should read this. In fact everyone on this board should read this.
Sarah Everard: social media and the very real danger of contempt of court

BBM - What isn't true? That we're not expected to unquestionably respect the Verified members?

Worth mentioning - disposing of a body in a builders bag is a very poor way to dispose of something. Builders bags dont degrade and it would protect the body from animals / natural effects on the body.

Possible she had been kept like this for him to return to later?

Or move. Don't builders bags have handles? Or at least can be loaded onto, or into a truck?

On the full website version it does say exactly what type of expert a poster is, recently I've found out that the mobile version doesn't show this.

I hadn't realised that an expert could post without links on any subject, I did assume it was only their own area of expertise. I'm learning so much today!
I think you were right the first time. A VI doesn't have to post links when commenting within their area of expertise.

A VI who is an insider to a case, such as a friend or family member, does not have to post links when sharing information they have personal knowledge about.

I've always suspected that another figure was caught on the doorbell footage. The police were very clear in stating she was walking alone (imo not to spook WC). This made me question why they hadn't released it in appeals like they did for Leahs . It was also similar in Libbys appeal and when that case went to court, we realised PR was on the footage aswell.

I really don't think anything we discuss here will result in an unfair trial, aslong as we stick to the rules of no random twitter , Snapchat or rumours. I'm pretty sure Websleuths wouldnt have operated for so long if that was the case.

Another point I'd like to make is most people come here to help find missing people not to be wannabe dectectives. Many of us are victims of crime trying to understand what makes another human being act this way and are there ways in which awful crimes like this can be prevented in the future.

My first thought too about those bags protecting what is inside.

It made me think the opposite to you though. More inferring to me that this was panic. Put her in something easy to carry and get rid quick. Not store her her for easier access later.

People have been saying this is his first offence ( for Murder) because it was sloppy. Personally I disagree with this theory because:

- I don't think it was sloppy, they used bus and road cameras to follow his direction, but 'potentially' a doorbell cam is what is linking him to Sarah. He would know about the street and bus cameras to avoid, but doorbell cameras are not general information ( Speculation as we have not seen the footage, but logic stands to reason that those were the applications of both)
- If the above is correct, the bus and road camera footage would be useless without the Doorbell.
- Also if he accidently killed her, he would not decide to drive 2 hours away. That is insane, not a first time offender behaviour. He would of wanted to get rid of the evidence as soon as possible, not drive for 2 hours.
- Also moving the body into a different police jurisdiction would be harder to link to the missing person due to poor communication between stations. It would have been less likely to be linked.
- Body disposal, by all accounts, most people on the sub think he meddled in someway ( Speculative). Once again. You don't accidently kill someone and think immediately of how to destroy the evidence. Most people dump and run. This scream experienced criminal.
- If the car hire is true ( I tried to keep up with threads, so apologies if I have missed some updates) absolute premeditation.
- They didn't know each other, once again, quite a sophisticated move to grab a random person off the street with no witnesses. Most criminals know their victims, particular if there is only 1 offence.

If they didn't have that doorbell footage, there is a good chance they would not have caught him. Thats is not sloppy, this is unlucky for him. ( Very lucky for police )

Because of the above it shows me
- Premeditation ( Hire car and avoiding street cameras)
- Sophistication ( Driving to a disposal site 2 hours outside London but not his house, meddling with the body)

I believe this was not his first attack, the only argument is that he was 'potentially' charged with IE days before, but the escalation of sexual and violent crimes is not always linear. It ebbs and flows.

I hope they do link him to more victims so that them and their families can get closure because I definitely think they are out there.

MOO

This is my first post so I really I hope I haven't broken any rules! Really sorry if I have

Welcome and I agree with your observations. That Sarah was reported to have ‘vanished into thin air’ (Police widen search for woman who ‘vanished into thin air’) made me wonder about who could be responsible before we learned of the suspect. In 2019 it was reported that London was the worlds second most monitored city (Subscribe to read | Financial Times) with approx 420,000 cctv cameras. It’s hard to imagine someone being able to avoid all surveillance.

I’m still in two minds over how clever / sloppy he has been in allegedly committing this crime.

As a police officer would he not be aware of TFL cameras? He has picked a busy street in central London.

I’m not sure about premeditation. I’m veering more towards escalating and opportunistic.

Where he very definitely was sloppy IMO was his alleged IE three days previously. On home turf (he used to work in Bromley) at a fast food restaurant where you’d know there’d be CCTV. With your car Reg plate on show. Twice! That’s a pretty bold / dumb move.

That’s an interesting point.

If her body had been inside the bag the whole time, why would they have had such a hard time identifying her (ie. the use of dental records)? Surely as you say if her body was protected from the elements then there wouldn’t be advanced decomposition?
