The way I'm understanding it is the two officers are the ones who handled the conduct reports. If WC had been told he was being investigated then he could have escalated in the belief he was going to lose his job/wife/family anyway. He certainly should have been suspended and definitely not going to work armed!! MOO.

it doesn't say if they knew it was him who had flashed on 28 Feb or whether they just had a description of a man who they did not know was him. If it is like a lot of flashers , do they really take those things that seriously ? do they have the resources to look into those in any great depth when there are numerous other serious crimes in London atm like the many stabbings?
Flashing, or indecent exposure is one offence that is part of a pattern of sexually predatory behaviour that can escalate to much more serious crimes; assault and murder. This is what happened with the man who murdered Libby Squires for example.
So yes, it is serious. Unfortunately the police often don’t take these seriously or join up incidents, as in the case of Libby Squires

Imo the way its worded, it suggests they knew it was him, a vague description would not have alerted them to one of their own surely? How on earth would a description of a bald guy flashing them be connected to him
As I type.. Sky news he flashed her in a fast food resteraunt.... So footage
DBM, double check my quote

Excuse my ignorance as not in London, but I didn't know there were any fast food restaurants open as it's lockdown. Assume it means in the vicinity of one anyway, not actually in it. If WC was already being investigated it seems totally bizarre that he would commit another crime so soon - except that he is beyond control.
I think you can still enter to collect food that you have ordered.

The IOPC said in a statement: “The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has started an independent investigation into whether Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers responded appropriately to a report of indecent exposure.

snipped by me.
I’m going to go ahead and save them the time here: no, they didn’t.

I know this because they never do. Any woman who’s ever reported any sort of sex crime knows this. It’s a “minor crime” and treated as such, and had it been handled differently, with the gravity it deserves Sarah could still be alive and well.

This. I wondered if there was cctv of the flashing incident....the whole thing is just mind boggling. One crazy turn after another.

Places like Mcdonalds, KFC, kebab joints are all open for takeaways.

They are open for takeaway. One can enter with a mask and order and pickup food

Sarah Everard disappearance: Family pay tribute to 'kind and strong' missing woman as they appeal for witnesses

The statement from the family refers to Sarah in the past tense - this is unusual IMO unless LE have concrete evidence that the victim is dead

So either there's not enough evidence that *WC* committed murder OR LE want to gather as much evidence as possible before charging him - either way, LE must have something pretty significant that has made enquiry change from kidnap to murder :-(

I’m in no way defending the police but I suspect they get multiple reports of flashing/indecent exposure every week snd simply can’t look into them all. However. This was done in a fast food restaurant so obviously WC’s behaviour was becoming more brazen (no way was this his first time) and if he was identified and nothing was done, this is major misconduct on behalf of the police officers looking into the allegation.

I suspect there will be more unsolved cases of indecent exposure with descriptions matching WC to come out. Just my opinion but it looks to me like his behaviour was escalating and if he was aware that he’d been reported for the incident, the net was closing. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there’s not some other unproven complaints against him on his file.

You can click and collect most fast food places. I went inside one the other day to pick up an order.

I agree....also gives more perspective to Cressida Dicks demeanour during yesterday’s presser MOO

Without a doubt. We all know how some forces operate, I really hope they did not just decide that because it was an officer, they gave him a pass.

That will ruin Met relations with pretty much every community in London - whatever slim goodwill is left, will be lost.

I think this is the case too. Ie he was possibly a suspect in the Indecent Exposure case and the other officers did not deal with it correctly.

The indecent exposure charge now explains the hire car.

He knew his own vehicle would be recorded.

Unless the indecent exposure charge came with some restrictions on his travel or movements requiring something like home confinement - He could STILL have assaulted her or some other woman.

I am outraged about all this, but his compulsion is too strong to stop him, even when he KNOWS he is on their radar.
