Is it not possible the reason why the post mortem has been delayed is because the dental records are not matching up with the body they are inspecting ?? Hence the delay in why the body also has not been formally identified ?? It may be possible the face on the body has been totally disfigured ??

The same article reports: BBC Home Affairs Correspondent Danny Shaw said: "It is understood there was bruising to her body."

From what I've heard via the media, bruising only happens when someone is alive. Blood pools where there is pressure, as in the victim was lying on it's right side, but that's not the same as bruising.

So we can assume she was beaten and the smothering occurred to keep her quiet.

You are right - it does only happen when the heart is pumping. Would be a good point to make that strangulation is more likely to leave bruising than smothering although bruising can be inidcative of smothering.

Also interestingly - statistically women are more likely to smother than men with men "preferring" to use force such as strangulation. Just pulling up the stats now

I get the awful feeling they're waiting for someone who's an expert in foetuses, but I really hope I'm wrong.

It could be an expert in determing the cause of death-smothering versus strangulation.

It could be possibly that some sort of insecticide or bleach was used .

If a body had been in the loft for a week I would have thought there would have been a major fly infestation.I am also surprised the smell was not more evident.
If a wrapped chicken was left in the loft in warm weather I imagine the smell would permeate the house after a few days.

These statements are slightly at odds with each other.

I'd still say SH is of low intelligence - see the language used in the interview and account of his life/criminal activities. Take for example, his use of the past tense when talking about TS - you don't need to be a genius to know that's probably not a great thing to do.

I don't see why they're at odds. He lived in a busy area, with no transport. He knew she'd be reported missing and so couldn't be seen wandering down the street with what looked like a body in a bag or something. We don't know when he killed her, either, but I have a feeling that it was probably not long before CS was due home, and that's why he didn't have time to do much but remove her to the attic and then clean the house. Also, he might not have thought that much fuss would be made about looking for Tia in that area, and she'd quickly be classed as a runaway by the police. As for his interview, he seemed to fool a hell of a lot of people with that one too, which shows there's some intelligence there.

Just throwin it out there but with regards to the nan being released on bail. Could it be because the police believe shes involved but have no proof. I mean any forensic evidence on the body implicating the nan such as a hair etc could easily be explained away after all she was in her nans house; the same could be said for any forensics implicating SH but i think the clincher which got him charged was the fact he was "supposedly" the last one to see her alive?

Anyone have any comments on that theory?
Yes, If she was not involved and she believed Tia to be alive, then she would not have put a pizza in the oven for her and then driven across town, when Tia would not have been able to get in for the pizza. You would either cook and wait, or not cook, but still leave one person waiting.....
She is guilty

What do you make of the delayed post-mortem, just curious?

Could be that as the body was decomposed there was flies, fly larvae etc. They could be waiting for a "bug specialist"(forget the correct name) to try and determine when death occurred?

Now that is possible.....and would explain everything. Unlikely. Very very very unlikely. But a great sleuthing mind!

It depends where the bruises are. Bruising can result from pressure, say if the arms are held tightly. Doesn't necessarily mean beating.

Sure, it is your thought to have! I see after the fact you are new here, so let me say this ---- I have seen some pretty bizarre suggestions from posters over the years. I have also seen some of these suggestions pan out as well. You really just never know...

If you've read my posts you'd know that's the one thing that has stumped me. My gut feeling is the police want to delay the announcement of cause of death, as i simply can't fathom why you would stop the PM.

I'm asking WHY?

Me too - maybe forensic entemologist???

Googled it - entomologist

Can i just clarify whether the body was in a sheet wrapped in bin liner or vice versa as im seeing contradictory reports.

One would assume (JMO) that:

1. If it was in a sheet wrapped in a bin liner then death was quite possibly in the bedroom and the bin liner was to deter decompostion

2. If it was in a bin liner wrapped in a sheet that it was put in a bin liner to deter decomposition and that the sheet was a means of transporting the body easier rather than indicative of the place of death

Just theorizing here!

If there were flies they would also have been in the house in large numbers.

I remember a news report a while ago that due to a farmer muck spreading his land or something similar and local houses were infested with thousands of flies.

The sound of flies in the loft would be heard through thin ceilings.

They said on Sky News that the 2 crucial details still outstanding are the postponed post-mortem and the fact they're still no positive identification despite Tia's name being on the charge sheet. They said the reason could be the fact it had been very hot when Tia was in the loft, which I think implies that decomposition might be making things more difficult? I suppose if the police had found her on the Sunday, these issues wouldn't exist?

I agree, & bruising to the legs would definitely point to sexual assualt.

Poor girl - up in that cellar - UGH!

Just a thought. The body has not been CONFIRMED as Tia? (Or have I missed something?) Why would that take so long unless they are not sure if it is? The arrest is for murder, and they are no longer looking for Tia, but why no confirmation?

Are they carrying out a post mortem on an as yet unidentified body?

The report we have not had is of the formal identification? I don't think they can assume anything until that has happened; so did anyone make it, and if so, when?

It's my understanding that a post mortem isn't to identify the body.

They have not officially identified the body yet,I would have thought that the pathologist would have been able to take a sample and send it to be tested to give a positive I.D.

Unless the body has been destroyed in someway with household chemicals.
