There was always something sus about the Chad Johnson conviction in my opinion - I remember reading/thinking at the time....this guys been set up.

For some reason I can load this page with ease (I'm at the end of my downloads).....but the above conversation made me think of something and I can't upload and post what I am wanting to.......It was a case or an alleged case against a lady for bank robbery and at the time I found it was when I was researching the Chad Johnson case. It was a post by the woman at the centre of some accusations by LE (maybe the same officers involved in Chads arrest) - there was a comment in the comment section following the story by a ......Joseph Brewer....if anyone can be bothered (I looked in my favourites section) it was listed under "Mastic woman charged with robbery" from what I can see it was on a "Topix" link.

Here's the link:

And the Jan 15, 2011 comment from one "Joseph brewer", supposedly from "New York, NY":

Much of the JB suicide rumor originated in the Topix forum. Though there may be honest, sincere comments posted there are many which are not. People post using names of celebs, names of people in the news such as JB, even names of victims. I highly doubt it was JB himself.

Topix has been a matter of great controversy:

Many posters, using anonymous accounts, are posting negative gossip about people within small American towns. A. G. Sulzberger of*The New York Times*said that "The same Web sites created as places for candid talk about local news and politics are also hubs of unsubstantiated gossip, stirring widespread resentment in communities where ties run deep, memories run long and anonymity is something of a novel concept."[6]*He added that "Whereas online negativity seems to dissipate naturally in a large city, it often grates like steel wool in a small town where insults are not easily forgotten."[6]*Various local governments censured the Topix forums. Many lawsuits resulted from content posted on Topix.[6]When Topix began removing all negative posts, people stopped posting on Topix, so the company stopped removing all negative posts.[5]

On February 3, 2009, Mark and Rhonda Lesher filed a lawsuit against anonymous posters on Topix.com.*

According to the WS thread on Jennier Papain, her killer lived at 773 Express Dr. N., Medford, NY. Wasn't colleen found on Express Drive South? Strange or is every exit named that?

Express Drive refers to the service road on the Long Island Expressway. Express Drive North is on the Westbound Long Island Expressway, Express Drive South is for the Eastbound Long Island Expressway.

Set up by himself, right? (I mean, he confessed).

From memory I read a few msm articles and my impression was it wasn't so cut and dry - that there may have been other forces at play behind his "confession'. I don't have the downloads ATM to search for the links that I could post, in order to present the details that drew red flags for me. When I have the downloads back I'll see what I can find.....but there were details around his brother, police harassment of his family...the various links and names involved eventually somehow brought me around to this Lady being charged by police - the same lady that was able to take police to court and disprove her involvement and end up basically saying she had been set up by - Was it the same officers?.....It was just by chance that I looked at the comments and saw a one "Joseph Brewer" reply. And yes....I'm not claiming any comments made in a "topix" post equate to the poster name being the actual real person - I just found it an interesting coming across in an article which had nothing to do with the Papain arrest or anything to do with LISK.....just a story about some poor girl possibly getting stitched up....maybe by the same arresting officers in the Papain case...the same case where a prostitute is murdered...and some guy has travelled to various locations - one being gilgo beach to burn her clothes... sorry I found that odd....as he would have stood out in that community - so it would seem a nonsense area for him to go to destroy evidence. I'm betting he couldn't afford good legal advise.....just my opinion. Sorry for the longwinded post.

Chad Johnson was arrested May 25, 2010 for Papain's muder and held without bail. He was in jail When Megan and Amber disappeared, so no LISK. A lot of things made him look like a good suspect for LISK though. He has a brother who we looked at for a bit - nothing much to find on him. Johnson reportedly confessed so that his brother wouldn't be charged (I think police threatened him with that). I can't find that link but there are threads here at w/s.

my recollection of the news accounts in that case is the ME never determined a cause of death. The body was only there for a month of so. I believe he said that while having sex with her she suddenly died. He used his girlfriend's car and was afraid she would find out he was with a prostitute and he buried the gal.

My recollection also tells me is he led the cops to the body.

He confessed, and I have to assume he recanted, according to what I read.

A confession in a SCPD murder case, IMO is almost worthless.

What struck me as odd was the ME didn't list a cause of death. That is the first step in any murder prosecution.

There seems to be no doubt he and the lady were in a car having sex. There is also no doubt she died while in the car. Without a cause of death and other forensic information I have a hard time accepting he killed her. Her body was only exposed to the elements for little more than a month, and, so the ME could have found a c.o.d. but he didn't.

I, too, have doubts about the conviction.

If the ME can't find a cause of death for Shannan Gilbert and the police are trying to say she died from exposure, then I have to wonder how can they say one thing for SG and another in the Johnson case ?

I still gotta get to this book that Hawk recommended. Anyone read it yet?

It is must reading if you want to understand what goes on in the wild, wild, east. when you finish that you should go to the library and pick up " A Criminal Injustice" by Rick Firstman. You will even see my name near the end of the book.

A little while ago one of you posted the name of the Tattoo Artist from Connecticut who did the peaches tattoo and called in about the story of Peaches visitng from LI with her aunt and cousin. Does anyone have this link?

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I needed to post it somewhere for my own future reference, so here it is.

I found several things interesting about this case, not neccesarily in relation to LISK, but certainly in relation to John Bittrolf. It's a puzzling case that I had read absolutely nothing about until 5 minutes ago.

According to someone on topix, who claims to be one of the sisters attacked, the blunt object used was a sledge hammer.

On this same page, someone mentions a woman in Island Park whose husband came home to find his wife in a semi-comatose state. She had been severely beaten with head injuries. No sign of forced entry, nothing stolen.

Here's the topix link (hopefully mods will allow this since there appears to be nothing else on this case to reference).

I read a few articles on that case last week. I got there by reading the comments on the "In Memory" pages for Brentwood HS. I went there while researching Patricia Costello. The same exact thoughts crossed my mind.

Concerning the Kristina Basile (28) Brentwood murder case, maybe it's just me, but isn't it kind of odd that 3 young sisters age 25, 26 and 28 are all 3 still living at home with their father ? I don't know what I want to say with this, It just suddenly struck me as very odd.

Haha... I'm afraid that sort of thing is no longer odd in the US. Personally, I couldn't wait to be out on my own. But now it seems like no one under 30 has their own apartment! ;)

Especially on Long Island. For 300k you can get a one bedroom house with an outhouse.
