(KUTV) — Alex Whipple, the 21-year-old uncle of Elizabeth Shelley, has been charged in connection to her disappearance.

Court documents state Whipple has been charged with aggravated murder, child kidnapping, two counts of obstruction of justice and abuse or desecration of a human body.
Shelley was reported missing from her home on the west side of Logan on Saturday at approximately 10 a.m.

Whipple was been named the primary suspect in the case early on. He is being in the Cache County Jail without bail on charges unrelated to the case.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen said on Tuesday he believes they have enough evidence for a case against Whipple. Police located items near Shelley's home that include DNA and blood evidence linking her to Whipple.

Jensen said the bat found on Whipple's person when officers located him on Saturday, in a rural location 10 miles away from Shelley's home, had no forensic evidence on it, and they do not believe it’s linked to Shelley's disappearance.

Logan Police Capt. Tyson Budge said Elizabeth has not yet been found.
