Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't text messages, photos, call numbers, etc. store on the hard drive of your phone or computer, and have nothing to do with your service provider. I'm just asking. ty

Sort of. As I understand it, the service provider transmits your text to your phone and it disappears from their server.

The info is then on your phone in the RAM (Random Access Memory) which is different than the hard drive on a computer. Depending on your settings and type of phone, it might be backed up somewhere else. For example, if you have an Android, your photos might be backed up on Google Photos.

But ... if you delete a text message, and that part of your RAM is written over, its gone from your phone but might be backed up somewhere else.

I’ve been wondering about the guy that warned Kenzie about AA. Wondering if there is any chance he’s the same private eye guy that was on Inside Edition saying he met Kenzie in a bar and that she told him she was on the SD sites. Wonder what made that come up in conversation? He said he met her in a bar, but I always assumed it was a random meeting in the bar. I’ll have to go back and watch.

I was going to say the same thing. No matter what, he wasn’t serving any significant time.

Not for a first time offense (in court), and not with the type of leeway afforded to the defense in a case of that nature.

He said, she said. Obviously, I believe her account though.

this could have been a case if she had actual injuries. they were co workers? very messy for their future interactions, and I tend to believe that unless the situation was very painful/shocking for the woman, she would not have gone to the authorities at all, because why go through the bureaucracy, if she was not scared and outraged, IMO.

Don't throw rocks at me, please, but here are some of my theories - again I have not read everything.
1. I think Kenzie knew A (met him in person previously).
2. I think she purposely turned off her phone.
3. Not sure why she met A at the park - for drugs (for someone else) or maybe she owed him some money.
4. I thought Kenzie had a risky life style but I am decades older than her - so I guess I am out-dated.

Again, for whatever reason she met A ended her life in a horrific manner. No matter her choices in life, she did not deserve to be murdered.

Friend who warned ML about AA told the reporter he spoke with that he and ML knew each other from online, not a bar, so likely not the same person.

JMO.

A very good question that I cannot answer.

I have a few theories that go against the majority and more than likely out in left field. Since I have not read everything, I really do not want to post my theories.
Catch up and share your ideas, please. (Or just jump in and share like most of us. :))

I suspect their relationship was personal rather than business-related, like trying to get her into modeling. Meeting someone at 3 am at a park just does not strike me as a business meeting.

it is a little out there, and you may very well be right, but it strikes me as something a predictor might do. flatter her- tell her they could make films together - tell her he had lots of plans. she might have thought with his Air B&B and such that he had some success in business and earning side money- his book- he might have appeared successful to her. (total speculation)

Text messages are not difficult to uncover from a device by forensics specialists. This guy is not an IT genius - his actions were extremely sloppy. My opinion is that if the communication was an SMS (text message) then LE has the contents, or enough of the contents to piece together information.

However, consider that many people use the word text when they're really referring to messages sent in an app, like a dating app. Those are not the same as an SMS and are retained on the servers of the application instead of a carrier and as such, take a request to the company for the data and it can be pulled within minutes.

But, isn't RAM just short term memory and all your data goes to your hard drive petmanently?

Reading this thread, makes me realize how out of touch I am with the real world. It is a scary world out there. Dating apps blow my mind. What is wrong with the old fashioned way of meeting potential date material?

Well ... consider he used the old fashioned way. He used church and the singles ward. He went to bars. He seems to have gone to activities through meetup, which I would describe as a giant message board of events, not a dating site.

With apps, you are in a much better position to screen people. It's way safer than the other options.

Nothing is wrong with it and trust me it's still there. You just need to be selective. You can find whatever you want online. But, there are still many old fashion people who never venture to the web...especially the dark one. I have been shocked by all this myself.

I appreciate your input but anyone can say anything on apps. Not trying to change the content of the thread since this thread is about Kenzie but I am wondering how you can screen people via an APP?
In fact, meeting a person anyplace, they can lie about themselves. Like I said, I am decades older than Kenzie.

Among other things, you can look at their social media and google their name. AA didn't have a criminal record but if you googled him, you'd see he had an unstable employment history with several low level jobs. If you looked at his twitter, facebook, or instagram, you'd get a sense of who he is.

You can't see social media automatically on dating apps but they don't give out your number and make it easy to block a person (or report them). As you keep up a conversation, you can ask for their social media.

I can understand that. I just cannot understand how meeting in a park far from either one of them's homes in the middle of the night after a red-eye flight ties into such a business meeting. That to me just does not sound like a business meeting.
