I've been following along with all the latest developments and here's my tentative/evolving theory based on what we know and has been reported in MSM, including some identification of the POI:
1. I believe that they had a casual, friends-with-benefits relationship and that they had gotten together at least once before, though don't feel strongly about that.
2. I believe that he fantasized about murder previously but don't think he's a serial killer.
3. I think this was pre-meditated to an extent - but it depends on how far in advance they had planned to meet and how deep their relationship was. Could have been they already had talked about meeting up when she returned - OR they both could have been online or on an app at the same time, and the plot evolved from there.
4. I think the late hour coupled with the fact that she was coming in from out of town made him think that it was a good time to carry his plan out. Even though he had already texted with her, he then set out to try to minimize any connections to her that could later be made:
- Not picking her up at the airport
- Making her turn off her phone
I can imagine that maybe he did make up some excuse for not picking her up at the airport and having her meet at the park - that maybe he was coming from somewhere, or his house was hard to find, etc. As far as turning off her phone - I don't think she had a choice about it.
5. I think the delay in reporting her missing and her story getting out there must have given him a false sense of security - which is why he decided to get rid of the mattress, do burning, etc. - I'm sure he thought that if LE hadn't contacted him by now, he was in the clear. He might have even been surprised that no one had reached out.
6. I think testing of what they found at the house is the holdup now. They need to know if her presence was established there, whether there is proof that she is not likely to be alive (blood stains in large quantity, other evidence) before they can officially charge him.
Also, can we please stop with the Lyft driver already? Sheesh!
Thinking of
@yellowmoose and all those who loved Kenzie. I can't imagine how sick and worried they must feel right now!
