Thoughts on the sudden Instagram "like"...

At the press conference, the Chief mentioned they'd been working the case, specifically with warrants, since Thursday. Placing myself in their shoes - and this is just my own person opinion - I would have written a warrant for her SM. I have no doubt that any SM has some sort of security set up that would allow alerting on her accounts as the result of a warrant.

In that case, her accounts would be flagged and any new activity on them would instantly escalate for investigation. Not people checking the IG, but actions taken as the actor (the logged in account). Assuming the POI was the actor in this case, there would no doubt be a log of that action, including the IP it came from.

Based off the warrant that was served, I don't think it is possible that this one post did it alone. IMO, I suspect that the phone had been turned on and connected to a Wi-Fi connection, but not her service, and had taken other actions on other accounts. Once the warrants were served, the companies turned over history which would show login attempts, even prior to her missing date.

What this tells us is that this guy was not tech-savvy enough to obscure his location and identity with a VPN (a type of network connection that masks your location/identity) which lead law enforcement right to him. This is not the work of a criminal mastermind.

But couldn't this have been as simple as a delayed follower request granted?

Instagram appears to also have some glitches - my desk top view of her page showed xx followers yet another member's view showed xx+1

It seems very hard for me to believe that at his age with the childhood he claims he endured, that he's also had so much education, military service, successful business ventures, a marriage & divorce, multiple careers, international travel opportunities, plus is an author & model. When did he sleep?? I'm not saying it's not possible, imo it just seems a bit far fetched to me. It's like he's trying to hard to convince others he's amazingly successful.

Here is the presser, you can watch Chief Brown making the statements and answering questions. One reporter asked a two part question that was clearly leading. Brown did acknowledge that the instagram activity the day before played a part in the investigation, but he emphasized it was just one part of the whole. In fact there were multiple references to how they got warrants earlier in the week, that they'd been following on leads since "last Thursday".

The verbatim part which refutes that article's headline/angle:

Reporter: "So was that what lead you to that house, was that like on that Instagram?"
Brown: "We're not confirming what lead us to that, other than good detective work and this forensic digital footprint that we're following."

That's not a yes.

I think the headline of that linked article is very misleading and warps Brown's words and intent.

If they were only waiting on DNA though, couldn't they hold him on suspicion for x-amount of time while they wait for it?

LE may have other people they need to eliminate before they arrest him so they don't appear to be fixated on him at the expense of a fair investigation.

They often get accused of that during trials.

Here’s how I think this might have gone down. Kenzie gets in late, she’s depressed, exhausted. She knows she has exams coming up shortly, and she feels she may need a little something to get her through all she’s dealing with. So she texts a friend (who may be a photographer), and asks if he can help her out. He has an acquaintance (that he may have completed a photo shoot for), who dabbles in the goodies from time to time...after all, he is an entrepreneur. She agrees, even though she feels like hell and is dressed, well, like a 23 year-old dresses when they take a flight. He calls the POI, tells him he needs him to do a solid for him – he has a good looking friend who’s looking for something to take the edge off. The POI says sure, but she’s not coming to his house, he’ll meet her at the park. Kenzie takes a Lyft to the park to meet the POI. She gets in with the POI and the first thing the POI tells her is she’s got to hand over the phone. He didn’t bring the goods with him, they’re at his house. It would be a big risk for a black man to be riding around with illegal substances at 3 a.m. Besides, he’s on his way up, going places as it were, he’s an author, owns his own Airb&b, etc, etc… just can’t take the risk, so the phone needs to be turned off. That way, if she gets caught with the goods later on, the men in blue can’t use it to track back to his house. She thinks this guy must really be all that and a bag of chips, so she agrees to disable the phone. He gets her in his house, offers her a drink and maybe an illicit substance. He thinks his photographer friend is right, she is a good looking girl, and he tries to make a pass. She rejects him (for any number of reasons), and he snaps. He tells himself he really didn’t mean to do her harm, but he has a lot of pent up rage inside, and he just can’t deal with these chicks turning him down like that. The police end up talking with the guy she texted with, and he admits to turning her on to his friend, the POI. That’s why the friend was considered as “cooperating” and wasn’t charged. It’s difficult to say what actions the POI took after that, but I have a feeling we will soon find out. JMHO

Respectfully, what is stated publicly at a presser on camera and what is said privately to a reporters by investigators are often two very different things. He did not deny it. He merely said that he could not confirm it. Let us see what further information is publicly released in coming days.

Speaking of “Army”, as one who is a huge supporter of our Armed Forces, I am especially “disappointed” when I hear someone in our military being accused of a crime as such, just as I am with bad cops. Jmo.

They already had warrants. They were already there that day when the follow happened. Sure, the instagram added to the over-all digital footprint they were already following, but he was clear in saying it wasn't the turning point or what directly lead them there. Don't forget they already had found out about the mattress and box spring being listed on Letgo and FB which were linked to his FB acct.

Could be a possibility. However, imo I don’t think it is drug related. Jmo. Her college friends would probably have had some weed if that is what she was looking for...I am confident things haven’t changed that much since I went to college.
