Brent Gibson Obituary - Vinton, VA | Oakey's Vinton Chapel

The family of Brent Austin Gibson, 26, of Goodview, announces with great sorrow, that he passed away much too young. He was preceded in death by his special “Nanny”, Madelyn Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, Brooke Gibson; mom and dad, Dawn and David “Herbie” Eanes; in-laws, Tommy and Denise Jones; brothers, Dylan and Jayson Eanes, Brandon and Derrick Gibson; sisters, Holly and Jessica Gibson; grandparents, Kathy and Gary Cole; Brothers-in-law, Derek Jones, Kyle Jones (Danielle); aunt and cousin, Carrie and Kaileih Slusser; great grandmother Carolyn Nichols; special cousins, Nicky Bowyer, Shanna Clark, Nick Mayhew, Casey Young; aunts, Vicky Bowyer, Lew Anne Mayhew (Billy), Sherry Young (Joe) and his best fur friend “Captain”.

Brent was an employee of Cardinal IG in Vinton for the last six years. He was known for his infectious smile, laughter and his goofy sense of style. He never met a stranger, loved life and cared for his family and friends. Brent enjoyed playing video games on his Play Station and was an avid fan of Duke Blue Devils, New Orleans Saints and the Boston Red Sox, and loved watching basketball and football. He had a close bond with his younger brother, Jayson and shared with him all that he knew about football.

The family would like to especially thank The Aware Foundation, Kim Martin with the Missing Pieces Network, National Park Service and hundreds of hikers, kayakers, friends, coworkers, family members and complete strangers who provided nourishment, donations and their time searching for Brent.
