Battered Woman Syndrome

Amber Heard's lawyer Elaine Bredehoft is now re-questioning psychiatrist David R Spiegel, who is an expert witness for the actress's team.

Dr Spiegel is now asked about Battered Woman Syndrome (BWS) which he says can sometimes be confused with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPI) (the court has previously heard Amber Heard suffered from BPI). Dr Spiegel says many of the symptoms are similar. He also says BWS is "a form of PTSD".

The doctor is also asked about behaviours caused by taking the drug MDMA and additionally the destruction of property which he says is linked to intimate partner violence. The doctor says property destruction is a form of control.

The court is shown images of damage to Depp's home in Australia, which took place in an incident which occurred in March 2015, and the doctor says such damage would be consistent with attempts at control and intimidation.

The images shown to the court include a painted over canvas, a mirror with graffiti on and a graffitied lamp, all of which Heard says Depp did:
