Thanks for posting that yumyum. Whether this is the guy or not he's still a . I would have thought they would have gone ahead and arrested him for the child *advertiser censored*. He has to know he's at least going down for that.

YumYum provided the first link for today's update.
I made my post while watching and listening to the live news report. channel 13 WTKR

This link will take you to a video. The video shows Hicke being handcuffed the night of Meghan's murder. I thought they said he came to the station voluntarily. Doesn't look voluntary when you're handcuffed.

At the end of the video you see his backyard and there's a playset for a child. I guess he has kids. I don't understand why they say he hasn't been arrested for the child *advertiser censored* on his computer. I thought that would be immediate.

i am so hopeful news of an arrest is coming soon ... do i understand correctly that wvec accessed that info as a result of the search warrant for records?

the guy appeared to be cooperating with the cops ... was talking & responding like turning & lifting his feet..... being hand-cuffed is probably standard procedure while questioning at curbside....... most agencies require a person be handcuffed while being transported ...... how do i know? about 10 years ago i was "jailed" at the mall for american cancer society... a deputy came to pick me up, read me the "warrant" & hand-cuffed me for the ride to the mall..... as i was being led down the walk to his patrol car, the new mail lady was delivering my mail.... i think she was afraid of me after that!!!! by the way, i spent all afternoon in the pokey... everytime i had begged enough money to be within a dollar of "bail", someone would call my husband & he would pledge another $50 to keep me there...... we had a lot of fun & raised a bunch of money for a wonderful charity.

On the video you can see them requesting to see the bottom of his shoes as well-
My guess is they have not arressted him yet, because they are working through his JAG

Althought the guys name came out as being a suspect, could it be possible this is tied in to the Lt Cox murder, both men being in the navy.
Sounds like all of this is connected? Maybe?

Both guys being in the Navy is the only link between these two. I don't see what the Lt. Cox case has to do with Meghan's death in any way.

They went to his house and waited until he got home to speak with him. He was taken to the PPD that night and later released.

I'm not sure about this, but since evidence about the child *advertiser censored* was obtained during a search warrant for the murder, wouldn't they have to get another search warrant to search again for child *advertiser censored* evidence? All that was mentioned in the article was one picture on his computer (disgusting as it is), so I wonder if that is enough to arrest someone.

I don't know, and I really don't. But in a lot of cases it seems one person may have a link to another in different social circles. Maybe someone was going to talk, to tell, to say something to incriminate someone else. I mean child *advertiser censored* is child *advertiser censored*. Never can tell who all was involved in the *advertiser censored* ring and was going to expose that ring or someone in it. ???

The video states that he gave them permission to search.

In a S&S warrant, you must be very specific about the types of evidence you have probable cause for- the only way they would have had to get a second warrant would be if even in a "loose" way, they did not think in advance they would find something of this nature.

Assume they knew what they would find before they got there. Remember, they are obviously having a difficult time tieing him to Meghan's murder, therefore chances are they will need either an eyewitness statement (unlikely) or a confession. People tend to give it up when they know they are going to prison anyway- my guess is they are talking about a plea right now with his JAG..

In the brigg, there is really not much worse of a life than a pedophile.

I wonder if he had an alibi for the time of Meghan's murder? Did they mention that in the news?

Ah, at least we are hearing of some progress being made in Meghan's case. It sounds like a bit of a confirmation on the earlier rumor of her possibly being a victim before with the mention of the prior investigation. Very sad, but I am glad the press finally is reporting something.

Welcome to WS, CA. Thanks for the information on a level which helps dispell the other rumors. I feel for the family and all they are going through. I know it seems as if we don't care about their feelings, but that isn't true. We are here trying to help figure out fact from fiction and in this case...it has been difficult. I am glad to know her biological father or family were not involved in any way. (This does include the stepfather, yes?)

I don't know it as fact but from what I have heard the step-father is not involved in any way.

This is great, great news I have been haunted by this case since it happened I think because i live in a neighborhood close to Meghans and I have a 15yr old daughter. i didn't know Meghan or her family but my daughter has some mutual myspace friends as Meghan.

I would guess that since she was afraid and shaky as reported by her friends she knew this coluld happen he must have contacted her sometime before the murder.
He had a lot to lose his navy career and possibly his family and his freedom so he has motive.

Sad to think he did this to her just to stop her from telling the world he was a pervert. He is not very bright to be a Navy Lt wouldn't he realize that he would be first on the suspect list and that they would look on his harddrive.

I just feel so sad am going to church to pray for protection of the children. Oh Happy Mother Day to all the mothers.

Jerseygirl123: The Lt. Cox murder hasn't been brought up by anyone in the family, which is why I'm hesitant to assume that these two crimes are connected. No mention of it has been brought up, so I believe that they are separate cases.

SeriouslySearching and lizzybeth: The step-father has no involvement in the murder. Unfortunately since he found her body, it was rumored that he had something to do with it. But he didn't.

jeepgirlva: The part about Meghan being 'afraid and shaky' as reported by her friends is untrue. She was her usual self when she went to the neighbors house after getting home from school, and called her mom to talk to her about her day. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Her friends saying she was shaky and nervous always bothered me. I feel like (and I don't know them), that Meghan's parents were good parents. I think they would have made arrangements for her to go to someone else's house or even picked her up themselves. This poor baby didn't have any inkling that something like that would happen.

I was leaving the grocery store this morning and looked over at the street Meghan lived on. I couldn't help but think about what a difficult mother's day this will be for her mom. Even though she has her son and other daughter, no child can be replaced.

I heard the neighbor's interview with the media where she said that Meghan seemed fine but i thought that maybe she felt better after she had gotten home and no one was there and she felt safe. IMHO Why would her friends say something like that if it was not true and maybe Meghan didn't tell her family afraid to upset them.

I also feel sad for her mother today it has to be hard.

Lizzybeth, you are right in saying that if Meghan felt uncomfortable for any reason, her parents would have made arrangements for her to stay with a neighbor or something. She definately would not have been left at home alone.

jeepgirlva: One of things I first posted about were those who connected themselves to the family to get their '15 minutes of fame'. One of the people interviewed for the news story (I believe it was a girl who claimed that Meghan had wanted to go to her house because she was afraid to go home) didn't even hang out with Meghan. The media was looking for a soundbite for their story and got one, although it was a lie.

I'm sure today is a hard day for her mother. I thought about that too this morning when I got up and had my husband and kids around. So sad.
