VA - Meghan Landowski, 16, raped & murdered, Portsmouth, 10 April 2008 #1

big mike, you mentioned le going back to the neighborhood. Something or someone in that neighborhood and this case will solve itself real soon. Somebody had to know that neighborhood (who was around and who wasn't) or someone she knew and let in. I don't think it was a random breakin at all. That still bothers me though about the door being left open?(was it or not) while she talked with a neighbor.

CAgirlatheart, It is definately not random. Like I said before, someone from that neighborhood, school, or someone she or her family knew well. I think the police are doing a great job on this one. If they didn't know what they were doing, they would not have cremated her body. The family would not have let that happen, I wouldn't think so. Apparently, the family knows who did this also.

jeepgirlva, the newspapers/new stations, and the like have access to court documents in some cases. This may be one of them. The have the way and means to get info, especially stuff like this.

I know it wasn't random, I know the family so I know bits and pieces of what is going on with the investigation (what the family can share, what they can't). I was just saying that if it were some random crime and the police didn't have a suspect in mind, there would probably be a lot more news coverage of this case.

Nobody in their family is being considered a suspect. Earlier posts about her biological father or a friend of his being involved is bogus.

CAgirlatheart, please let the family know (if they are aware of this board) that we post here because we care about Meghan and finding justice and for no other reason. I think I can speak for everyone when I say our thoughts and prayers are with them.

I have a question and I understand if you choose not to answer it or if you can't. Is the family okay with the way the investigation has been going so far? Do they have confidence in the PPD?

Will do Lizzybeth. I don't know if they know about this board specifically, but they are well aware of the online support from everyone, and appreciate every prayer or good thought sent their way. Unfortunately they also know about the many rumors and speculation that the public has but tend to ignore them. Which is one of the reasons they refuse to talk to the press. They know their words can be blown out of proportion and they'd rather deal with this amongst their family and close friends and out of the public eye.

And yes, they are happy with how the investigation is being handled. They are in constant contact with the PPD and are confident that Meghans killer will be brought to justice, it's just putting the case together that is stressful on them. They want answers just as much (more actually) than the public does. They will never get closure, but knowing that their daughter's killer is behind bars will no doubt relieve some of their anguish.

We all want justice for this sweet child. I'm sorry if I contributed to the rumors on this board. I just felt that I had to know why someone would do something like this and was grabbing at straws.

I'm sure seeing the person put behind bars (or DP better yet) will help the family. I won't say closure because I'm sure there will never really be closure for her family and friends. I remember when Taylor Behl was murdered and Ben Fawley was sentenced I felt an emptiness. You realize that just because the murderer has been found and locked away it doesn't mean that Taylor or Meghan will come back.

I'm glad the family has confidence in the police dept.

From what I understand it might be a good thing that the Police Chief is resigning. I wouldn't think it would have any bearing on the investigation into Meghan's murder. At least I hope not.

"Bumping" -when a case that is important to you goes without a post it moves further and further down the page, or even to the second page. You want to keep it on the front page where people can see it. If you don't have anything new to report you just post the word "bump" or "bumping" to get it back up there where people can see it. It doesn't necessarily have to be the word "bump".

Lizzybeth, I wasn't specifically talking about rumors on this board, just in general. Unfortunately there are those that want their 15 minutes of fame and will tie themselves into the family as a supposed friend just to get on the news. That was the case when this first broke, those that were interviewed that had a "tie" to the neighborhood or family and in some cases that wasn't true. It was just sad, but I know it happens with most crimes that are on the news.

UPDATE
Local News has reported there's new information about the case tonight.

The Naval officer questioned in Meghan's case had something to do with child *advertiser censored* but he hasn't been charged yet.

His computers were seized May 8th and there was a picture found of an adult sexually abusing a child.

There is also an arrest warrant from a few months ago that CONNECTS Meghan and the officer.

So why didn't LE arrest this pig? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to connect the dots. :banghead:

A court document obtained by 13News says Hicke was considered a "person of interest" in the homicide of Landowski. The document adds there had been a "prior NCIS investigation involving both LTJG Hicke and the victim."

There is a lot more to the story than just that, and the LE is well aware of the 'history'. But even though it seems convenient that he did this to her, there is such a thing as evidence, and that needs to be air tight before an arrest is made...if he indeed did it. There are other factors to consider too, no matter how easy it is to point and say "Well duh, he's guilty", KWIM?

Thanks for the info. I live in VA, about 30 miles from Portsmouth and I have a friend who lives a short distance from Meghan's house. I've heard the rumors. IMO LE is taking too long in sealing this case.
If this creep's DNA was found on or around Meghan and he was directly connected to her in another case, sounds like the proof is in the pudding to me.
