That's got to be close quarters. They would have to be sharing rooms. The apartment complex not has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units.

Yes, after the post including the floorplans, it's definitely close quarters. I'm not sure of the living arrangements.

But my guess about the window being close to the bedroom door... well, it was a bad/wrong guess... it simply doesn't work.

Let's pretend I didn't make that terrible guess :blushing:

I'm sure that most know this, but sometimes if you just google a name and someone with a different name's obituary comes up, it means that the name you googled is in the obit. If you read the obit you can get information about relations, and where they live. Often, but not always, it mentions members of families and relationships. I learn about relations by doing this. Reportedly, no one checked on Nicole after 7pm that night. She did not climb out of her window 'til sometime after midnight. I don't know who or how many people lived there, but 5 hours plus is a pretty long time to not know what your 13year old child is doing. JMO....especially considering that she had serious medical issues.

Just throwing out another theory. (Because basically that's what we do at this point.) I wonder if they had recently joined some sort of group with cultish undertones. Not only does it seem they wanted to see if they could get away with it, but some of the gruesome details that we know sound a big sacrificial. Again, that's a huge stretch of the imagination, but it crossed my mind.

I also wonder if there was a group of people that gathered to watch Making A Murderer. (Not the first time I've mentioned that theory.) My college used to have viewings of movies and popular shows. It's not hard for me to believe they did this. I'm trying to figure out how these two particular people actually came together to both want to do something like this. I guess as this unfolds, we will know how they met, etc. Steven Avery's case is such a hot topic, I could see it inspiring the wrong sort of people. Just a theory, folks.

I have a hard time thinking Making a Murderer would inspire anyone to kill since Steven Avery is in prison and all.

Listen to Natalie Keepers' college employment rant.

It says the video has been taken down. Boo.

I don't think that's too odd. Most teens probably spend hours in their rooms or whatever by themselves.

I keep reading about the "obsession" that NK had towards DE. Can someone post some evidence regarding this? Did she post somewhere showing that she was obsessed with him?
I haven't seen any direct quotes about that. My theory is only a theory more based on feelings not on any facts from MSN.

My 15 year old daughter can be in her room, door closed. for hours without interacting with the rest of the household. Unless I actually need to discuss something with her, I give her her space, remembering what I was like at her age. I do try to be very vigilant about her online presence, which, thankfully, is minimal by her own choice as well as on my advice.

Now if she is out and about I am totally up her butt with, who are you with, where will you be, who are the adults supervising, I need to talk to them, etc. But in her room? Nah, that's her space, I try to respect it.

Most likely she didn't have a lock that locked her door from the inside. That's why she used the dresser. I don't think there is any indication she was kidnapped from the room.

I believe it was a night stand and not a dresser. I think her mother or someone else corrected that. It was much smaller than a dresser.

The snow was not as severe in Blacksburg as other places in the state. I know the town buses had some limited runs and hours, but the area is used to larger amounts of snow. I'm not currently in BBurg, but it's my understanding that there wasn't even much interruption to class schedules.

When I was at Tech, it took a lot of snow, or, more likely, severe icing, to cancel classes or interrupt buses. I still get emails from the town and college, so can try to go back and look at the closures, etc.

edit: I just looked. Campus was closed and the buses didn't run on the 22nd and the 23rd. It was business as usual after that. When I was there, not being able to drive was never an excuse for missing a lab or exam. Everybody has bus access, so you are expected to take the bus if need be. Not like here, where I was off work for 7 straight school days!

It really doesn't make a difference as to what piece of furniture it was that she used to block the door.

Well now....it could be the difference of an often used push my lightweight night stand in front of the door so siblings know to leave me alone.......or it could be a very determined moving of a heavy dresser so no one can come in type of thing..........just sayin

Well, if we are going to go into this discussion, there are different kind of dressers. Some are big and heavy and some are not so much. Night stands could also be heavy.

And what difference does it make? She crawled out her window and was subsequently murdered. JMO

That was my point. She put a piece of furniture to block the door and got out of the window. I don't see the relevance of whether the piece of furniture was a dresser or a night stand.

So interesting. That's what I said upthread, exactly, about her affect. Flat. She was flat then, she's flat now.

It seems as if she is trying to sound like a measured news reporter, but instead she just sounds aggressive and rather harsh. Given her involvement in theater, I was a bit surprised.

Reports have varied. Dresser - nightstand. An article of furniture was pushed in front of the door.

Bickering about it goes nowhere as there are links to both variations aplenty.

Ultimately it doesn't matter, but I am curious if it was some light piece of furniture that was somewhat pushed in the way of a door or some heavy, sturdy piece of furniture meant to actually keep people out. Though, my curiosity there lay more with thinking someone may have come in her room that night rather than just her leaving. Seems like they have mostly confirmed that DE met her at the window though and didn't come in the room.

A lot of the back roads though in this region may not be cleared or easy to drive on even with the town roads are fine. So I'm also thinking the same as the poster above and BBurg and north carolina border roads easy to drive. Even those out of town.

That's what I think. It reminds me of the girl fro Blair Witch project when she was talking about coffin rock. Trying to sound like a news reporter

You know what - that's what I've been searching for. This whole case is Blair Witch Project-y. Not that it follows the plot of the movie, but it has that unsettling, confusing, eerie feeling about it.

Good reference.
