I had that same thought about him being a blackjack dealer and wanting to get out of town. I wonder if he had been planning this and had acquired fake ID that he was using in Va.

Also wouldn't the casino have vetted him before hiring him as a dealer? Which I would think would at least include fingerprints. A previous poster mentioned that he had no fingerprints on file. Although I suppose that even if the casinos did a background check they may no longer have his fingerprints available.
BBM
I would be shocked if a casino did not have fingerprints on file for awhile. When I worked for an accounting department in 2000 I was required to get cleared by the Dept. of Justice (or something I can't remember). I think all casinos would have a background check, fingerprints, credit check, etc. on file for quite a while.

I think the decedents eyes are too far apart to be Belnap, but, I will call it in today.

I wanted to ask other questions to the VBPD: anyone have suggestions on what to ask?

I know it is too late, but I wonder if his hands were dirty or work roughened? Like, he had been working nearby painting or cleaning.

I'm on the fence whether it is Belnap. Yesterday I actually found a few missing people from Canada that looked pretty close. From the angle of the picture it is hard to judge- but the eyebrows seem off a bit. Hope I am wrong!

Deca if you want to give me other options I will submit them to the lead detective.

Or, alternatively, if you'd like I can PM you his email address and you can email him. Just let me know! :)

BBM - I just talked with my friend who is in security at the casino and he said that in order to get a gaming license you must get fingerprinted and that the casino has those records on hand. i am not sure about kevin's specific records, but if i am understanding my friend correctly, every person who ever works there has his or her prints entered into a database, so in theory his should still be there.

like i said before i cannot imagine that LE didnt ask for his prints back in 2001 when he went missing and i really cant see why the tribe wouldnt give them willingly (unless there is some law against using them for non-work purposes?)

but if somehow this only 1 print from UID thing is true, i guess its irrelevant that his prints are on file. :banghead:

I read previously that they had only one print and checked NamUs and saw the others listed as "UC" I believe.I am not sure what exactly that means but I assume uncoded.I wonder if the UID was working with some type of solvents that would cause this.i.e. commercial paint strippers etc.

I don't understand it either, but if the one print doesn't match then we look elsewhere. If it does, then I imagine LE will have to try to get a relative of KB to give DNA to try to match.

Anyone know if his family has been looking for him?

Don't tell anyone about the solvent/paint stripper thing, perps may start to use that method!

Just saw a MP that had a skin graft on some of his fingers (his stats didn't match with this UID). Just wondering if something like that would cause them to state they couldn't get fingerprints.

You know, 95 is close to Westerly RI where his car was abandoned. 95 runs alllllllll the way down the east coast. Granted, you have to take 64 once you hit Richmond VA.. But still, the proximity of 95 to Stonington and Westerly is interesting..

To be fair, Rhode Island is so small that the whole state is close to 95 :)

Richmond to Virginia Beach is about two hours.

I emailed the detective last night around 10p and told him that casinos should have all employee fingerprints on file and asked why UIDs fingerprints weren't ALL recorded. Will post answer.

I, once again, can't tell you all how grateful I am that I've found you and that you're all helping bring this man back home. This case touches my heart so much for some reason (probably because he looks like my Uncle Jim). I hope and pray we're on our way to getting it solved!!!!

I wish I knew how to get ahold of his family

There is a man in the same town that Kevin went missing from .. with the same name .. about the age to be his son ... who is an instructor at UCAELI/UConn .. and has a facebook page ....

just sayin.

Instructor KB appears to be unrelated.. from PA originally. -- sorry for the sidetrack ..

But I know his wife still appears to live at the same address as KB when he went missing .. there are two other younger Belknaps that have lived there also..

I have a question. So you turned this into the Det right? You also contacted the ME right? So why are you trying to contact the family? What would you say to them if you did talk to them? Just wondering

Nobody said they were contacting the family .. only wishing they knew how ..

I just enjoy doing the research .. I have no plans for contacting the family.

Just wondering because I am a family member of a missing and I do believe if a possible match was found that I would want to hear that from the Det working my case and not from a member of websluthes and believe me it has happened before.

I can understand that ... would be nice to know his shoe size.. lol.

Sorry about your family member.

What is the most inportant is the dental, fringerprints and dna and if the Det and the ME have the info than it is a matter of time before they will check them against each other. Sometimes it is not as simple as folks think it is. I have seen some go 6-9 months before id is made. The Virginia Beach Police Department is one of the best departments I have ever worked with and the Dectives are top notch.

It's frustrating because if someone (say a teen) goes missing and two weeks later they find a body, within 24-48 hours they have a dental comparison ID and it's done.

Someone goes missing for years and put on a website, and it takes 6-9 months to compare dental or fingerprint records.. seems odd.

Of course, I'm on the outside looking in, but it's almost like if it's not a "hot" case then it just gets put on the back burner.. those families are still hurting everyday too..

imo

Yes it is frustrating because the tests themselves probably only take a few days total, but I guess the backlog is immense.
