Dave Schaller said it sounded like Amber knew the guy on the one. Was Amber on Model Mayhem? This Nytimes article says Maureen started out on Model Mayhem. I bet Shannyn had a model Mayhem?

IDK I see the serial as totally un techsavy. He knew to get a burner phone but that's IT in my opinion he's a total outdoorsmen. Not tech savy at all. LIKe bittrolff. The locations like sumps, tick infested brush, that;s not tech savy person at all. That's someone whose comfortable outdoors not at the computer.

LOL...the first time we all saw it (way back when), we had the same reaction. Can't recall what the deal was with the car now, but it was just something stupid and meaningless.
 
It is important to remember that all the girls were somehow lured outside. They were not inside their motel/hotel or home. They were taken away from their typical working environment. Lets just say that each girl had done something to get on the wrong side of an organized group...
something like trying to quit their pimp
taking some of the pimps stash or money
or robbing some of the regular clients

Remember these pimps are also connected to drug running and retail theft rings, etc.

Then lets say the powers that be tell the underling pimp that if he wants to be breathing tomorrow he will call the girl or have someone she trusts, like a driver, call her for either a meetup or a drug score. She goes out to the waiting car but the person in the car may not be the person she spoke to and it is someone else who takes her away and either delivers her to the killer or who does the killing as well. Thus explaining why she has let her guard down or seems to have been caught off guard.

All the pimps allude to the fact that the last phone calls came from someone the women seemed to be familiar with and ironically we know that AC called MW right before she left the motel.

About the male victims, I've always believed that they were male prostitutes who worked for the same pimp or perhaps knew who had the women killed and/or knew who killed them. A Male prostitute could as easily be found in his boxers as would a john, JMO.

Interesting point of view, but Maureen was into drugs that much? And one of the males was in the age bracket more plausible to be a John rather than a prostitute.

Maureen was said to have been robbed of her weekend earnings but somehow got it back....maybe someone higher up felt it was money due them and then when she "got it back", however that came to be, then the ball was set in motion. Remember, she spoke to someone she was familiar with as well. (The Staten Island cop.)

Also, I get the feeling there was some sort of an issue re: the people she went to NYC with. For some reason they left before she did.

About the old UID male. He could have been a pimp who wasn't interested in setting up the women or he and his women may have done something to get on the wrong side of a higher up.
 
With the exception of Maureen and Megan, we know that the story that the Amber and Melissa spoke to someone they were familiar with is coming from a pimp and a kind of sort of pimp. With Maureen and Megan, that info comes from the cell phone records.
 
ok thanks for looking..... I was having these weird thoughts maybe Amber got in the car (stolen car) and at some point realised she was in trouble and pulled at the drivers wheel causing a crash...somehow killer still managed to overpower her (two cars involved - two people) and they left the scene....geezz my mind is on overtime at the moment....thanks again.

Maureen's story, or to be more precise her day starting with their encounter with the stranger out of the hotel, intrigues me much. I need lots of clarifications and confirmations on that period.

Just a quick correction, FWIW.

No trains go directly to Norwich. You *can* take Amtrak from Penn to CT, but no one does that because Amtrak is significantly more expensive. (Amtrak is really intended for traveling longer distances.) If she was taking the commuter train to CT, then she'd be taking Metro North out of Grand Central.

Amber took the LIRR to NYC everyday to cop heroin. Dave S said the SK sounded like Amber knew him when he called.....how about a LIRR train conductor who she would have seen almost daily and got her number for a date? LIRR goes straight to penn and she wouldve have been taking it twice a day, like a commuter except she'd probably go in, get her drugs, and go straight back out, possibly encountering the same conductors in both directions. :O

Not likely what? A LIRR conductor works in Penn where calls come from, then goes back home to Massapequa where more calls come from. Why so many calls from Penn? Maybe your looking for someone who works there. Someone in a transit uniform on the surveillance videos from calls times isnt going to stand out. Many people have suggested transit cop. I could see an LIRR conductor striking up a conversation with Amber when the train is not very crowded, then finding her in Craigslist and when he calls Amber kinda knows him from her commute so her guard is down. I'd really like to a more thorough account of Amber's day to day schedule. Here's who we know she encountered daily: Drug Dealer, LIRR conductor, ?.
 
If the caller was a "John" in Amber's mind she'd be less likely to "leave her phone and everything else because thats what he wants" according to DS since Amber got beat up recently. So he's probably someone Amber encounters in her daily trips to get heroin in NYC, that doesnt pose a threat to her from her perspective. Or he could be one of DS's friends from the Marina on Ocean Parkway, but then DS might recognize voice, car and even the SK if he saw Amber get in the car, so it's less likely one of his friends?
