shannan reportedly had met with a client in midtown manhattan before heading down to the south shore to jb's with MP. I would hope investigators looked for some kind of connection, if there was one, between the client in the city and JB. a referral? A drug connection?

Or just a tight schedule and the police didn't find a connection

Interesting story in today's NYPost, Fred Dicker column, as well as other sites. Do a google for a TITUS TAGGART. He is a NYS Trooper assigned out of Buffalo, NY. He, and two other troopers have been suspended, or even arrested for their part in a prostitution ring.

One of the 4 Gilgo victims came from Buffalo to LI to meet a customer.

We know that the Babylon victim and the victim that left the Holiday Inn both left without taking a cell phone while engaging in the most dangerous profession known to man.

Why did those gals do that? What made them feel they were so safe that they could do that?

Think about how you feel when you drive off and realize you left your phone behind. You feel 'naked' and vulnerable without it.

I have reason to believe that this same game of cops pn laying with hookers is going on in Long Island.

the only thing we know for sure that they had in common was the south shore beaches,so that was the end,now we need to find the beginning and the middle.like the story goes,two sides to every story,truth is always in the middle.

It appears as if LE tried, and not only some days back. They tried to find johns, remember? That is how they found those NYPD cops if I remember right.

Take the "Fixer" angle out of the equation and then consider the question again.

In otherwords, assuming your guy is out there "hunting" as you put it, what if his hunting grounds are not the online ads?

What if his connection to the victims is something like any of the following;

• Past or current employees of Strip Clubs?
• Customers of a particular drug dealer?
• Girls employed by a particular gang or other crime organization?
• Girls who have been confronted by the same law enforcement officer?
• Girls who all have been confronted by the same person or organization looking to get them out of their lifestyle?
• Patients of the same medical institution/clinic?

We might be shutting the door on a whole world of possibilities if we make the assumption that he hunted them online. What are there other common denominators?

My theory is that there is a combination of two things going on here. I do think our SK located his victims online, but I think he found them somewhere else first. As you know, the strip club angle has always intrigued me, but many of these girls seem to have had aspirations of fame...singer, actress, model. I can't help but wonder if there is some connection there, as well. I've even wondered if he met these girls in such a setting, turned them on to escorting, and set the trap in that fashion. The girls take pictures with the men, dance about and probably solicit future private business...as in escort/private parties, etc. The killer may be a club/party frequent client.

You have to cast that net a little wider. We have three victims offering garden variety sex but one offering femdom. Means, the killer has to roam two distinct types of clubs. However, on, club level, the sadists and the masochists are still one scene.
The other question mark in this is Maureen. She had no pimp and I have nothing, that would connect her directly to the club scene except for the vicinity of 46th street to some private clubs. So, he could lurk NEAR to some clubs without even going in.

Okay, just to sort this out, you talk dance clubs, I talked about the private sex clubs between Hell's Kitchen and the Port Authority area. And yep, could be, Maureen visited those dance clubs, no evidence she visited the other kind, while it was likely Megan did because the SM scene appears to be more a closed society than the garden variety sex business.

According to this article calls made to Melissa's mother and sister were made from a pay phone and a disposable phone. Also, calls made to the escorts from the Craigslist ads were all less then 3 minutes and made on disposable phones. That may be why numerous calls were made to the girls before the actual dates. He was limiting his calls to under 3 minutes knowing the calls could not be traced.

Police traced those calls as coming from Times Square, Madison Square Garden, above Penn Station, and the Long Island suburbs near Babylon.

Whoever made those calls knew how to avoid detection: they were from public booths or disposable mobile phones in crowded places, and each call lasted less than the three minutes it takes a cop listening in to trace them. All the calls responding to the Craigslist ads came from a disposable mobile, and lasted less than three minutes."

I have to disagree wiht this. Pretty much everywhere you go in the major parts of Manhattan are you are under surveilance. A savvy detective could just by a process of elimination and time could atleast get a still shot of a guy who was in the phonebooth. JMHO.

If they were on a cell phone they could be anywhere. Maybe they could trace from a phone booth, but otherwise there are millions talking on cell phones in that location at any given time. Let's just hope they did get some images at the phone booths!

LE doesn't like to talk about it, but we entered the electronic age. So crime shows may talk three minutes, but if you have a trace set up on a line and someone calls it, you have the information in less than a second nowadays. Maybe two, if you got an under-equipped provider in between.
The real problem are cell phones. It's no art to ping a cell phone and come up with a place, for example like Times Square. And you may have even cops there, right in the area. But you have also about thousand people pressing cell phones at their ears getting their daily wave of microwave into the brain. Now, who of those thousand is it? So, to use payphone is in such a place actually less smart than using a burner.

I think, maybe, they had no trace on it at all. They went months later, and only after bodies popped up, through old records. And of course, months later, the guy wasn't in the phone booth anymore.
