Tracing from the BP Garage, past LIDL and over the crossing, and ending up at the playground (as per 2 different eye witness accounts) would make her journey something like this....map

Takes her parallel to the river. 10 min walk. The eye witness didn't say what sort of condition Victoria was in at the playground or where she went after, how she was behaving etc.

Victoria may also have taken a footpath which more closely follows the river than the route you have suggested. It is sandwiched between the commercial units on the north side of Norton Road and the river, and exits onto Railway Street here. The last stage of her walk would have been as you have proposed. I imagine the police will have checked the footage from the CCTV cameras on the commercial premises on Norton Road by now.

More likely, I agree. I’m confident that’s the route she took.

Just thinking aloud, I wonder what she had said to her partner before leaving the house that morning - I.e I’m popping into town, I’m going for a walk etc etc. The family have said it is out of character but I wonder whether she had any mental heath issues. Terribly sad but hoping for a positive outcome. JMO.

Five unanswered questions

1. Where did Victoria go?
She was seen at her home at 9am on Monday morning with her fiance and their daughter while she was facetiming siblings. Matthew and Victoria then left with their daughter to visit his parents. Victoria then left his parents' house and did not return.

A local lady saw her crossing the railway crossing near a Lidl store in Welham Road about 11.30 to 12 noon, heading towards the River Derwent.
A woman in a house near the play park saw her coming down the path leading to the river.

She was then seen by locals passing a local children's play park, the Riverside Playground, and walking along a thickly overgrown path next to the river between 11.30am and noon.

2. Why did she discard her belongings, ie soft drinks bottles, cap and rucksack ?

3. Why are police searching the river?

4. Why was her social media still 'active'? Friends claim her Instagram account was still 'active' after she vanished.

5. Could she have travelled out of the town? There were no signs of Victoria boarding buses or trains at the local train and bus station. There has also been no activity on her cash card since buying the soft drinks.

The 9am sighting seems to be VT at home with partner and child, facetiming with family.

The next sighting aside from family is around 11.30am at the petrol station shop, so the implication would seem to be that between 9 and 11.30 they went to the partner's parents house. From there VT has gone to the shop and purchased two drinks...which sounds appropriate for going on a long walk.

Then we have presumed sightings at the railway bridge and then by the river at the point where the playground is. So I'd guess that the belongings were found past this point?

Maybe she removed the backpack to sit down by the river? The hat might have been removed and then blown a distance away in the wind, so the location of the hat might not be as important as the backpack which is likely to have more weight to it.

A slip into the river does sound the most likely explanation here.

ETA I think the 9am sighting at home was the one publicised probably due to the petrol station shop footage only being found later.

This is what I found as explanation

If a user opens Instagram within the last 24 hours, it shows “Active today.” However, if they used it within the previous 8 hours, it displayed “Active x hours ago.” If users are inactive for more than eight but less than 24 hours, you'll see “Active today” on their name

If the Instagram app is still running in the background of your device - or if your device settings allow Instagram to refresh in the background - your activity status might show you as online.

So indeed I guess it is only an indication that at that moment the phone was still powered on, which is not that irrelevant

Could it be that she bought 2 drinks because she had planned to meet another person ? What I find bizarre is that her friends saw her instagr status as active after she went missing
I think most people would just buy drink for themselves and expect the other person to bring their own. I wouldn't read anything into it other than it seems consistent with intending a walk and wanting to be hydrated. There could be another reason but I don't think it's necessary, and the reason might be to put a bottle of water into the fridge for work the next day or something like that.

The comments from the partner and her friend make it sound like they think she ran off to me. Maybe they are just hopeful that she has because that means she could still be alive.

Victoria's friend and neighbour Charlotte Cundill, who she has known since school, also begged her to come home.

She said, according to The Sun: 'My message to her is come home. Your family need you.

'You've got plenty of people to support you if you need help.'

Have they even found her phone?

Annoyingly there’s some key inconsistencies. For example that poster quoted above says she’s 5’2”, the second poster in the FB feed says “5’6”. That’s quite the difference and easily verified.

Comments from people that know her are saying 5’2” for sure and they’re annoyed at the misinformation being spread about her height. So she’s definitely shorter than 5’6”, not even a question.

Locals on that FB corroborate our traced journey.

Seen at BP at 11:30ish, then Lidl crossing, then she would have turned left at bridge to go parallel to river toward the playground where she was last seen. The DM have their map wrong.

The library sighting was at 9am and locals saying she went home after that. She face timed a friend before leaving again.
